(81:04, pretty much chronological, except for the live "What Goes On" tacked at the end - my favorite rhythm guitar workout ever, except for maybe "Le Freak"! - "Sister Ray" and some others were cut as they were simply too long and there were equally essential tracks...)

This list nags at my conscience - I'd be happier if I could take the first 2 LPs in their entirety and then POX Doug Yule-era songs. Still wouldn't be enough, tho.

Glad to see Foggy Notion on alot of these lists. It is my absolute favorite track, mainly cos the rhythm section is just so damn tight and dancable.

I was listening to "Sister Ray" just now, and my 10 year old walked in to the room and asked me, "Dad, what does 'narcissistic' mean?" So I tell her it means you're more interested in yourself than anyone else. She points to the speakers. "This is narcissistic music." And then she walks out of the room.

You are still listening to Sister Ray? Isn't that a song you listen to only once in your life?
― Ich bin kein Berliner (alex in mainhattan), Tuesday, 21 November 2017 21:45 (eight years ago)

A discerning son you have, Josh. He will grow up to be Roger Kimball.
