Ok so i'm here all starving, thinkin' i'ma onna get my grub on and so decide to hit up the local (taco, yes) Bell. I hop in my SHO SPECIAL EDITION '96 taurus (that i almost killed ned in), pull out on my complex, and turn on the first or 2nd greatest radio station anywhere, HIP HOP & R'nB "ALL THE TIME" ---- POWER 106 (105.9), fully expecting to once again hear my bitch beyonce squeak out that baby boy song, or "if i can't"...which i hear 74 times daily ...

And I start hearing the middle of 2+2 = 5

After almost running thru a stop I check and see if i didn't accidentally put it on crap-rock KROQ by mistake. NO. IT WAS POWER 106

THEY JUST PLAYED RADIOHEAD.

I waited for some sort of explanation after the song but it just went to a commercial break. and true enough after the ads were over it went to "Baby Boy" - no explanation given

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN???????????????

*****maybe mr. xgau will see this thread and now be convinced that since that since a n "afro-american-station" is playing then they indeed do have "riddim" ??

Vic (Vic), Monday, 29 September 2003 06:27 (twenty-two years ago)

cinniblount (James Blount), Monday, 29 September 2003 06:34 (twenty-two years ago)

ok maybe i didnt really read that xgau/httt thread or review carefully but ignore my xgau comment, i still think this is not really a good thing, even though its ultimately meaningless

Vic (Vic), Monday, 29 September 2003 09:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Gear Hungry (blueski), Monday, 29 September 2003 10:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Old ILM gently suggests that being fucked with a chainsaw may not be a good idea.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Monday, 29 September 2003 10:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Monday, 29 September 2003 10:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Interesting... I heard them play Queens of the Stone Age's "No One Knows" this week, too... I think there are a few DJs there that aren't scurred to mix it up a little. Bravo, I say.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 29 September 2003 17:24 (twenty-two years ago)

dude, the expression is "fuck me GENTLY with a chainsaw" without the "gently" in there for irony, you're just being gross, or possibly grody.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 29 September 2003 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

"thinkin' i'ma onna get my grub on"
you are a moron

I'd like to second that.

David Allen, Monday, 29 September 2003 17:55 (twenty-two years ago)

is power 106 an independently owned station? maybe since radiohead played down here this weekend clear channel agreed to play 2+2=5 like two million times in exchange for promo and ran out of programming time on the other stations.

or maybe people were requesting radiohead?

vahid (vahid), Monday, 29 September 2003 18:36 (twenty-two years ago)
