Obviously there's still a host of big albums to come in the latter stages of the year (Basement Jaxx, The Strokes, The Rapture's official release in the US), but the big summer/September period is now over, so what's left to look forward to in October, November and December?

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Monday, 29 September 2003 08:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Not strictly music but the Bill Viola exhibition at the National Gallery should be amazing.

NickB (NickB), Monday, 29 September 2003 08:38 (twenty-two years ago)

im not really sure what im lookin forward to next month as far as releases go, going to a few gigs in october though (bonnie prince billy on the 16th, and janes addiction on HALLOWEEEN OH YEAH!) both of which i am very much lookin forward too.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Monday, 29 September 2003 10:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm excited about the new Rachel's, Basement Jaxx, Ludacris, Belle and Sebastian (album and EP), Death Cab For Cutie, N.E.R.D., Wheat and the MF Doom album (where he actually goes by his own name) due out sometime in November. Though I've heard a few of these, I'd just prefer to get the actual CDs.
Oh, and Ludacris is coming to town on November 11, which I'm excited about.

Jonathan (Jonathan), Monday, 29 September 2003 11:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Not CDs, but shows: Lucinda Williams in October, White Stripes in November.

Jazzbo (jmcgaw), Monday, 29 September 2003 11:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Which MF Doom album is that, Jonathan?

Nathan W (Nathan Webb), Monday, 29 September 2003 11:48 (twenty-two years ago)

- Killing Joke at Webster Hall October 22nd. Second single, "Seeing Red" is released is October 6th.

- Firewater's Songs We Should've Written - Firewater cover Sinatra, Johnny Cash, the Beatles, Sonny & Cher and others, either October 7th or October 21st...no one seems sure. They're playing NYC in December.

Curious to hear the Joe Strummer record. Already picked up the Rapture's new one on import, and am significantly digging it.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 29 September 2003 11:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Some shows
Black Keys 10-7
Love - 10-22

Chris V. (Chris V), Monday, 29 September 2003 12:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm looking forward to some vacation time coming up soon.

Hassan Hakmoun coming to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, a place I've never seen him perform at before.

Atavastic Records is going to be putting out another oddball Sun Ra release featuring more early doo-wop type recordings that have recently surfaced.

Al Andalous, Monday, 29 September 2003 12:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Jonathan, when you say "Luda is coming to town", I take it you mean London? :(

Nick H, Monday, 29 September 2003 12:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm looking forward to the Proof cd, the Donae'o/Artilla cd, the Black Album, Chicken and Beer, the Em produced Biggie/Pac song, the Musical Mob/Mastermind Troopers cd, the Elephant Man cd, the Vybz Cartel cd. I'd like to hear the new Belle & Sebastian cd as well, I got If You're Feeling Sinister for 3 quid the other day and it's really nice.

, Monday, 29 September 2003 12:25 (twenty-two years ago)

In October alone:

10th - Killing Joke and Arab Strap, same evening, different venues in Bristol. Thankfully KJ is an early show - I'll have to run to see both but should make it.
15th - Danielson Familie in London
22nd (?) - Mogwai, hopefully playing not too much off the last two albums

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 29 September 2003 12:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Seeing some gigs at times I'm available, pointless NZ stuff tho. Also seeing what the fuck they do w/the vinyl edition of the Outkast record, and BUYING IT.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 29 September 2003 12:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Also seeing what the fuck they do w/the vinyl edition of the Outkast record, and BUYING IT

4 discs. ordered it last week, v. curious about the artwork!

willem (willem), Monday, 29 September 2003 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually that's what I thought they'd do. Hmm. Yes the artwork should still be interesting, and how much did it cost?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 29 September 2003 13:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I was hoping they'd stick all of Big Boi's on one disc, that's all. 4 discs, THIS'LL BE FUN.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 29 September 2003 13:21 (twenty-two years ago)

i was browsing the insound catalogue at their website and they listed it for... $14.99!! i couldn't believe my eyes but i instantly ordered it, even with the shipping costs i suspect it's a lot cheaper than whatever price they'll ask for it in the vinylshops here (=NL)
and yes it's gonna be FUN!

willem (willem), Monday, 29 September 2003 13:33 (twenty-two years ago)

The new Scene Creamers single and album, and the new BJM (next week!).

Sarah Pedal (call mr. lee), Monday, 29 September 2003 13:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Cee-Lo Green Is the Soul Machine comes out TOMORROW!!!!

I'm a little excited about this if'n ya can't tell.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 29 September 2003 13:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I know Ludacris has leaked but I've yet to hear it, so that + Kelis, Clipse, Missy, Jay-Z and the Michael Mayer Fabric mix. (and a Superpitcher album if that really is on the way.)

scott pl. (scott pl.), Monday, 29 September 2003 13:44 (twenty-two years ago)

missy is really coming out with more new shit? wow. is no one going to say alicia keys ? haha nevermind

Vic (Vic), Monday, 29 September 2003 13:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Ok Willem that's one hella reasonable price, I'm all into this being fun, YAY!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 29 September 2003 13:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Alicia Keys and Missy are guests on each other's upcoming records. (Missy's is scheduled for Nov. 25, btw)

Oh, and I forgot Kylie -- that, too.

scott pl. (scott pl.), Monday, 29 September 2003 13:54 (twenty-two years ago)

There are like five albums that come out on October 7 alone that I'm excited about: Belle & Sebastian, Death Cab for Cutie, Do Make Say Think, High Llamas, Stereolab (EP). So those, and Basement Jaxx.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 29 September 2003 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

The Belle & Sebastian isn't all that exciting, sadly. If it was exciting, now that would be excitement.

I always feel guilty for liking them until I hear the earlier stuff again.

Sarah Pedal (call mr. lee), Monday, 29 September 2003 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

New US Maple is due in October, if I'm remembering correctly.

dlp9001, Monday, 29 September 2003 13:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, I'm sort of 'looking forward to' getting the copies of three different records that'll pop outta my friend's studio in our hometown next week. Yes, all of them are 'local', so hardly of much interest to anybody else on here :)

As per global (heart) warmers, dunno really...
(aka: still haven't got even 'Lost In Translation', wtf!')

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Monday, 29 September 2003 14:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Nick H, Ludacris is coming to St. John's, Newfoundland. If people knew just how insane that is (I'd say you can count on one hand the number of popular US artists who have come to Newfoundland in the past 5 years). And Maestro "Let your backbone slide" is opening.

Nathan, if you go to MF Doom's site, www.mfdoomsite.com, they mention an album called M.F. Doom - "Mm Food" on Rhymsayers. No release date mentioned, but I saw November listed somewhere else.

Also, for anyone interested, Mark Kozelek's new project, Sun Kil Moon, have an amazing album set to come out November 4.

Jonathan (Jonathan), Monday, 29 September 2003 14:02 (twenty-two years ago)

the first missy single -> ungodly good

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Monday, 29 September 2003 14:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, now I'm getting hesitant to buy the tix to see LOVE. Do I want to spend $63.00 to probably end up going alone? No one will go with me. And its the damn full orchestra show!!!!!! Do I say fuck it and go alone?

Chris V. (Chris V), Monday, 29 September 2003 14:05 (twenty-two years ago)

oh and tell me about this Sun Kil Moon???????

Chris V. (Chris V), Monday, 29 September 2003 14:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Well first off, the Sun Kil Moon is out on Jetset on November 4, but as you'll see from the label's website, they've posted NOTHING about this release. Go to the message board and see the fans slamming the label.
The album is 10 songs with a slightly more country feel to the songs. Actually, if you heard the new version of Have You Forgotten on the Vanilla Sky soundtrack, it kind of has that feel: still like RHP, but there's something that's a little different. Duk Koo Kim, which Kozelek released on a 10" this year, is on the album, but it's four minutes longer. heh. I haven't given the lyrics a close enough listen.

If you're on soulseek, I have it posted (not online now, but will be tonight). The album is called Ghosts of the Great Highway.

Jonathan (Jonathan), Monday, 29 September 2003 14:11 (twenty-two years ago)

What is the new Missy single called?

Jonathan (Jonathan), Monday, 29 September 2003 14:12 (twenty-two years ago)

"pass the dutch". it's got fake diwali.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Monday, 29 September 2003 15:17 (twenty-two years ago)

She's covering Musical Youth? Wow.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 29 September 2003 16:47 (twenty-two years ago)

She already covered them on "Pass Da Blunt" off "Supa Dupa Fly".

Nick H, Monday, 29 September 2003 17:25 (twenty-two years ago)

This page which is called Future of Music, has release dates and rumoured releases. It claims near the bottom that Handsome Boy Modelling School have a new one in the works with Daman Albarn and Thom Yorke guesting. Anyone know anything about this?
There are a number of exciting releases mentioned on the site, but it's not clear when some of them will come out, if ever.

Jonathan (Jonathan), Tuesday, 30 September 2003 01:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm just waiting on drunk merriment in Dublin and London. The soundtrack will hopefully be irrelevant, but one never knows.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 30 September 2003 01:57 (twenty-two years ago)

This Sun Kil Moon is amazing. Wow. Duk Koo Kim, brilliant!

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 30 September 2003 11:01 (twenty-two years ago)

no one said NELLY FURTADO?

Vic (Vic), Tuesday, 30 September 2003 11:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I also just realized that some of these songs as well as the title of the cd are boxers. Duk Koo Kim was killed in the ring.

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 30 September 2003 11:46 (twenty-two years ago)

whoa why is my post all messed up i typed "shocker" in after nelly furtado

Vic (Vic), Tuesday, 30 September 2003 12:17 (twenty-two years ago)

no one said NELLY FURTADO?

The only thing I'm looking forward to in regards to Nelly Furtado is her untimely demise.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 30 September 2003 13:30 (twenty-two years ago)

So there really is a new Cee Lo record today?

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 30 September 2003 13:34 (twenty-two years ago)

nick.K (nick.K), Wednesday, 1 October 2003 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I got it off www.mp3sfinder.com Nick - the top 40 two months early and in handy pick-n-mix form, yum yum. Flushed review on NYLPM already.

The new Travis is horribly boring, and I do have their other albums.
