I just find it odd that close to 30,000 people downloaded "Twist Of Fate" off mp3sfinder, but no bastard went out and bought it. By the same token, an awful lot of people have been downloading album tracks off me, but I bet nobody buys it.

apparently quite a lot of pressings went out as a 21-track easy listening CD.. oops

hardly a surprise given that the dishwater-bland single missed the top 40.
i'm rather amused by the ease of mutya's success compared to this (not that mutya's single was all that good either, but she's got the stronger voice/personality)
― lex pretend, Wednesday, 4 July 2007 11:28 (eighteen years ago)
Mutya's single is "DO YOU SEE?" ringtone friendly, tho.

You've gotta factor in that Siobhan jumped-ship after the first album, and the cultural capital of Sugababes went through the roof after that - I doubt many casual fans even know she was ever in the band.
Bits of the new album are great, bits are good, bits are meh - she REALLY needs to not try for major-label bland-pop, and go full-on Kate Bush / Cocteau Twins, get in actual bona fide talented producers / arrangers / collaborators rather than Keane's prgrammer. She's got masses of potential, creatively if not commercially.

ok wtf is with the kate bush comparisons? i've heard three songs from the album - two are extremely boring wishy-washy blandpop, one is a reasonably good stop-start country/acid thing, none of them are remotely close to kate bush in terms of sound, and i have heard absolutely nothing to suggest that donaghy has anything like bush's creative visoion, if anything she's stuck at the andrea corr level

really !? off to go see if i was one of the lucky ones, as i only ever listened to the promo. i wish she had gone off the deep end with some more experimental backing that is sometimes hinted at in the production. but too much of the album is just all right, and not special enough to validate a return visit. apparently though, there are some mighty remixes doing to the rounds, so if the label repackage this with an extra cd of the remixes then they could be onto a winner.

haha nick if only siobhan was making songs as good as most sugababes ballads! 'too lost in you' and 'stronger' pwn every solo donaghy song ever
― lex pretend, Wednesday, 4 July 2007 13:10 (eighteen years ago)
See I don't think they get near Nothing But Song or Man Without Friends or Ghosts.

She was bloody AWFUL at Popstarz a couple of weeks ago. Terrible sound quality probably didn't help, but she frequently sounded way off key. And no stage presence neither.
