I'm on my first listen, and so far it's excellent...

Is this an album or a single? I love Lacquer.

It's an album Ronan. Likely to be labelled electroclash, but I rather like they way they overturn some of the cliches of the subset - the vocals are warm and inviting, rather than austere and angular, and that goes for the basslines as well.

ditto lacquer love. hasn't 'behind' been re-released on a major? for all the kompakt/italic/morr nu-pop remarks, lacquer seem the most genuinely pop. it's like lacoste and studio line for the 00s.

what's the rest of the album like?

nebbesh (nebbesh), Tuesday, 30 September 2003 12:19 (twenty-two years ago)

My initial impression is that nothing is as strong as Behind, but the rest of the album is uniformly excellent electropop. I'm digging it, I can see it climbing into my end of year ten already.

i'm buying more and more electropop lately, it sweetens and calms me. anything else worth searchin for nathan? i'm guessing i will have to wait a while for this lacquer elpee to surface in shops.

This is the first thing of it's type that's crossed my radar for a while, but I dare say there's a wealth of ILMers who can offer extensive tips in this area. Though if haven't got the Bergheim 34 album already I would recommend that and the forthcoming Chicks On Speed album is very pop.

I think Overloaded was released about 2 weeks ago in France, not sure about the rest of Europe/World.

Oh dude Behind is pretty much my favourite type of stuff there is.

I am really looking forward to hearing this, I really loved X aswell, I find his lyrics really cool and Behind was one of the songs of the summer for me.

Nathan try and download the Buffalo Bunch remix of Close Your Eyes by Bebel Gilberto, it's very like Behind I think. Also if you've not heard them try Runnin' or Love Lost both of which are by Alan Braxe and Fred Falke.

one month passes...
I want this so bad.

I've seen it here but it's v. v. expensive! :(

If I had a Pazz n Jop ballot, Lacquer's "Behind" would already have a slot secured. So someone who does vote on P&J and finds themself with a spare "singles" slot, please do me the favor. Thanks bye.
