i've ripped the sun city 2000 ad tape pack - 8 tapes, recorded nye2000 to ogg vorbis 160KB/s VBR, which will play on pretty much any modern media player and is a lot more free than mp3, which is to say completely.
use bittorrent to dl them. it's free too. get it at http://bitconjurer.org/BitTorrent/ and feed it this:http://dizzee.csem.duke.edu/~cooper/sun_city_2000_ad.torrenti must caution you that the set is 554MB, though.

http://www.vorbis.com/software.psp?pid=4 might have some software you can use. if the quicktime components work i expect they'll play in itunes.
