Who to disembowel first - Creed or Staind?

Staind's 'music' is marginally less shitty than Creed's. But then, Creed gets some points for treating their fans like garbage, indicating that they have a better idea of their own talents than said fans do.

Couldn't you stand them side-by-side, and disembowel them both at the same time?

Bilious Screed.

Return to sender - unwanted goods in Britain. And there are many more useless generic rock bands in grunge/ sub grunge/modern rock/nu metal/ rap rock/ punk pop lite - that you can keep over the other side of the pond as well.

In London unfortunately the Xfm playlist does have a qouta of bullshit rock bands from the USA.

You obviously haven't checked this weeks album chart. Disembowel Staind, as Creed yet to impinge on my consciousness.

Billy Dods, Friday, 31 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Blame the popularity of Staind on Kerrang/Metal Hammer/Xfm/MTV2/Steve Lamacq/Ian Camfield etc.

Systems theory - GIGO - you put garbage into a system - you get garbage out.

The media is to blame, music on TV/ music on Radio and weekly print titles in the UK are useless.

[They are unwanted from my viewpoint.]

DJ Martian, Friday, 31 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm with the two-at-once theory -- though arguably you could use the Creed guy's hair to strangle the Staind guy, then the Creed guy could be arrested and killed.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 31 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ned ..make it a 4some while your at it .. add in Matchbox 20 and Vertical Horizon..DESTROY

DJ Martian, Friday, 31 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Skip Staind, and go straight to the source, Fred Durst. BTW, don't look now, but Limp Bizkit is the biggest band in America. England has Radiohead, and we have Limp Bizkit. If it wasn't so expensive, I'd move to Japan.

dleone, Friday, 31 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

There so much muck around that is supported by the media:

With one or two exceptions look how ghastly the Gavin Alternative Radio Chart is at the mo in the USA. Aural torture/ Room 101 corporate rock rubbish. There seems to be a new crop of major label rubbish emerging on a continual basis.

DJ Martian, Friday, 31 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Is it just me but that new Live clip (with Tricky in it) made me think of Creed.

Did anybody see the recent "Real World" where the kids have to assemble 2 focus groups for some awful new band? All these punters sit around in a huge mahogany conference room and answer questions about the "branding concept poster" for the Whine Metal band they're listening to. All of it is as awful as the two bands mentioned is this thread if not more so. But since the punters are getting not only paid but treated like Very Important People by the Obviously Influential Music Foax, one of the focus groups turns into an extended kiss-ass session. The other focus group not so much - the punters actually dis the band, the haircuts, the poster etc. Guess which focus group is called "successful" and is paid attention to. It is obvious but still chilling that this is how decisions get made in the music industry. What a lack of balls.

Oh my God that was incredible. I wanted to be on that focus group even more than I want to be on the Real World. Staind is a lot better than Creed, BTW.

Kris, Friday, 31 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

yawn.

ethan, Friday, 31 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

excuse you.

Tracer Hand, Friday, 31 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Re: The Real World. The kids were put to work for Arista. I was actually at a bar last night with the bald Arista guy "Devon" just last night. The bands were Adema and Drowning Pool, I believe. Your basic post grunge metal CRAP. And I had to market them at BMG. God, the humanity.

Just fo' the record, Spiritualized is also on Arista. So they are not enitrely evil. And the new Spiritualized video for Stop Your Crying is quite lovely.

Creed.

Staind at least seem to have some kind of inner turmoil driving them. On the other hand, someone planning an online multimedia dictionary could simply have an mp3 link to "Arms Wide Open" under the entry for the word "Pretentious" and everyone would immediately comprehend the meaning of the word without a lengthy sentence.

Ray, Tuesday, 4 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yeah, but Scott Stapp is a self-righteous bible-basher, which is infinitely more interesting than yet more 'inner turmoil'.

dave q, Tuesday, 4 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Jesus People, like Scott Stapp, should be made to take after their Roman forebears and be thrown to the lions. Maybe that should be the next "real-life" TV show.

Tadeusz Suchodolski, Wednesday, 5 September 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

one year passes...
KILL THEM ALL!

Tad (llamasfur), Thursday, 5 June 2003 22:03 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't see anything terribly offensive about Staind. Creed is irritating, Staind is just mediocre. I like "Outside," actually.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Thursday, 5 June 2003 22:42 (twenty-three years ago)

I totally would dismebowel Staind first. Creed are too hilarious for me to want to hurt, plus their power ballads are catchier.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Thursday, 5 June 2003 23:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Okay, here's what we do. We make them all stand in line, single file, and impale them *all* with a rocket propelled harpoon.
Hows that?

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Friday, 6 June 2003 00:49 (twenty-three years ago)

the funny thing is that Aaron Lewis would be all arms-thrust-inward and sad while Scott Stapp's would be wide open and beaming with Christian zeal.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 6 June 2003 00:58 (twenty-three years ago)

two years pass...
A question definitely of a time and place (and proof that 9/11 changed everything).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 18 September 2005 22:17 (twenty years ago)
