Familiar 2003 Melodies

An observation, not a criticism:

The phrasing on the verses of Basement Jaxx's "Good Luck" is quite similar to the Supremes "Where Did Our Love Go." Haven't seen this noted yet. Maybe I'm hearing things.

Another:

The verse melody of Outkast's "Pink & Blue," I believe, owes something to Rod Stewart's "You're In My Heart"

Any others this year that made you go, "What the hell is that?" and dig through your record collection to find out.

the similarity to "where did our love go?"/"tainted love" was noted a few times in the basement jaxx thread.

Entirety of The Biggest Ragga Dancehall Anthems 2003 (and the year before and the year before that, etc) especially Elephant Man's "Fan Dem Off"!

The original "Tainted Love" nod was sharp, though.

I never know if those type of references are worth putting in a review. In consideration of my hourly wage, I include them if they took me longer than forty minutes to identify.

there's some recent Celine Dion song that I hear on the radio at work occasionally that has a very very similiar melody to Ginuwine's "Differences".

Radiohead, "Backdrifts" = Martha and the Vandellas (et al.), "Dancing in the Street"

Nelly, "Shake Ya Tailfeather" = Atlanta Braves Tomahawk Chop

Not 2003 but it really ticks me off just how much that fucking awful Royksopp thing that's used on every ad and station id and travel program ever is a straight rip of Moodymann's "Mahogany Brown"....

Another Basement Jaxx one:

'If I ever Recover' = 'If I ever Feel Better' by Phoenix.

The title suggests they are aware of this.

PIMP by 50 Cents sounds suspciously like Wilmot by the Sabres of Paradise.
