Metallica's Mr. Hetfield: "My lifestyle determines my deathstyle" keeps haunting me....what's yours?

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Monday, 8 December 2003 17:42 (twenty-two years ago)

uh crap....WORST lyric of 2003 sorry.

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Monday, 8 December 2003 17:42 (twenty-two years ago)

that lyric is genius!

hslh, Monday, 8 December 2003 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

this guy i saw last night at the bottom of the hill had the worst lyrics i've ever heard... *googles*... Lazarus aka Trevor Montgomery... his guitar playing was marginally okay (good tone), but the lyrics were dreadful... worse than john vanderslice. plus he had that "i'm trying way too hard to sound earnest" style of singing that i absolutely abhor.

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 8 December 2003 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

i would say the opening line of Limp Bizkit's 'Behind Blue Eyes' but it's a cover right?

stevem (blueski), Monday, 8 December 2003 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

no pete townshend wrote that for limp

chris besinger (chris besinger), Monday, 8 December 2003 17:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Something from Des'Ree's new album รก la: "It doesn't matter if you're black or white/ It doesn't matter if you're wrong or right". I mean, COME ON, fer chrissakes!

Jay Kid (Jay K), Monday, 8 December 2003 17:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I was gonna vote for Metallica, but Exhumed have a song called "The Matter Of Splatter" on their album Anatomy Is Destiny, so they win. Either them, or something from the Hidden Hand's album, on which Scott "Wino" Weinrich attempts to get political. Dumb bastards truly abounded this year.

Phil Freeman (Phil Freeman), Monday, 8 December 2003 18:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Beastie Boys - whatever that anti-war single was, had something on it like, "Just because we live in the United States of America, that's no reason to act hystarica."

BrianB (BrianB), Monday, 8 December 2003 18:06 (twenty-two years ago)

:O

stevem (blueski), Monday, 8 December 2003 18:07 (twenty-two years ago)

wait a minute, that MIGHT be good

stevem (blueski), Monday, 8 December 2003 18:07 (twenty-two years ago)

'The Matter of Splatter'! That sounds great!

Jay Kid (Jay K), Monday, 8 December 2003 18:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Damn! I forgot about "act hysterica" that's a great one.

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Monday, 8 December 2003 18:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Metallica is clearly paraphrasing Shakespeare!!

Sonny A. (Keiko), Monday, 8 December 2003 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Only the best.

Aja (aja), Monday, 8 December 2003 18:59 (twenty-two years ago)

"Whatever happened to the values of humanity?" - Black Eyed Peas.

I hate hippies.

Flyboy (Flyboy), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 11:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Not sure if this is 2003 or 2002 but I'm currently enjoying Busted's Year 3000 lyric:

"Boybands, and another one, and another one... and another one."

then there is the mathematical implausability of:

"I've been to the year 3000... and your great great great grandaughter is pretty fine" (she looks good for someone who would have died hundreds of years ago.)

Flotsam of the Fishfolk, Tuesday, 9 December 2003 12:26 (twenty-two years ago)

All of Fifty Ccent's. He sounds like that ancient dude with the gravel in his mouth.

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 12:30 (twenty-two years ago)

"Stacy's mom has got it goin' on
Stacy's mom has got it goin' on
Stacy's mom has got it goin' on
Stacy's mom has got it goin' on

Stacy, can I come over after schoo-oo-ool?
(After school)
We can hang around at the p-p-p-pool
(At the pool)"

it pains me to even have to look at it 'cause now i can't get it out of my head. it's not just the worst lyric of the year; that song is the worst thing of the year.

rainman (rainman), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 15:22 (twenty-two years ago)

that lyric also sounds great! which song is it?

Jay Kid (Jay K), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 15:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Fountains of Wayne - Stacy's Mom

ModJ (ModJ), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 15:48 (twenty-two years ago)

j0e (j0e), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 16:14 (twenty-two years ago)

oh dear gawd yes

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Speaking of Madonna, let's not forget this hot verse:

I'm drinking a Soy latte
I get a double shot
It goes right through my body
And you know
I'm satisfied,
I drive my mini cooper
And I'm feeling super-dooper
Yo they tell I'm a trooper
And you know I'm satisfied
I do yoga and pilates
And the room is full of hotties
So I'm checking out the bodies
And you know I'm satisfied
I'm digging on the isotopes
This metaphysic's shit is dope
And if all this can give me hope
You know I'm satisfied
I got a lawyer and a manager
An agent and a chef
Three nannies, an assistant
And a driver and a jet
A trainer and a butler
And a bodyguard or five
A gardener and a stylist
Do you think I'm satisfied?

Matt Helgeson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

3rd verse:
Nobody loves me
Sometimes I wish the good Lord would come down and hug me
I take a look at my life, it's gettin ugly
And now I know that you all wanna slug me
I can get above it, it's my life and I thug it
Even though I live it close to the edge
I'm gettin closer to death, with every little step
that I take, and be awake of my last days
I hope the sun shines with a light rain
That would mean the world shared my pain
And now the world could be happy again, smile
Cause if I ever walk "The Green Mile"
You can look at me and blame it on my lifestyle
What can I say? I was raised as an only child, lonely
Poppa disowned me, so the streets raised me
now call me crazy is not unheard of
Now it's gonna reign down murder

[Chorus]
I think the rain is callin murda (Murda)
I think the reign is callin murdaaa (Mur - da)
I think the rain is callin murda (Murda)
I think the reign is callin murder (Mur - da)
- repeat to fade

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Tuesday, 9 December 2003 17:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I saw fireworks from the freeway and behind closed eyes I cannot make them go away
Cause you were born on the fourth of july, freedom ring
now something on the surface it stings
that something on the surface it kind of makes me nervous who says that you deserve this
and what kind of god would serve this?
We will cure this dirty old disease
if you've got the poison I've got the remedy

the remedy is the experience. It is a dangerous liaison
I say the comedy is that its serious. Which is a strange enough new play on words
I say the tragedy is how you're gonna spend the rest of your nights with the light on
So shine the light on all of your friends because it all amounts to nothing in the end.

I won't worry my life away.
I won't worry my life away.

I heard two men talking on the radio in a cross fire kind of new reality show
Uncovering the ways to plan the next big attack
they were counting down the days to stab the brother in the be right back after this
the unavoidable kiss, where the minty fresh death breath is sure to outlast his catastrophe
dance with me, because if you've got the poison, I've got the remedy

the remedy is the experience. It is a dangerous liaison
I say the comedy is that its serious. Which is a strange enough new play on words
I say the tragedy is how you're gonna spend the rest of your nights with the light on
So shine the light on all of your friends because it all amounts to nothing in the end.

I won't worry my life away.
I wo'nt worry my life away.

When I fall in love I take my time
There's no need to hurry when I'm making up my mind
You can turn off the sun but I'm still gonna shine and I'll tell you why

Because the remedy is the experience.

I won't and I won't and I won't...
