Larry Heard "Genesis" Classic or Profoundly Beautiful?

One of those albums that constantly amazes... mostly downtempo, but not in a cocktail party kind of way (i have nothing against cocktail parties or dinner parties or coffee shops, but maybe just those partiers and patrons who think that they are the only ones with "proper taste" or whatver). "missing you" is the best argument for deep house since the 80s that i have heard yet, with its inspired sublteties (and digital seagulls!) akin to works much less humble; it reminds me of a time when IDM didnt seem like such a loaded term, when it just meant beautiful music for the moments before one went to bed.

it just needs to be mentioned. classic.

One of the few Larry Heard albums I don't own cuz it's only available as an overpriced import.

i bought it on LP when it came out and it wasnt that expensive. it was one of those albums that was simply handed to me by the DJ i knew at the shop i used to go to quite often. he said "buy it" and i did. try downloading it ;-)

Hey Aaron. I have been diggin genesis too. Profoundly Beautiful? Well that is a question of degree and relation. Profound? Not to these ears. Beutiful? For the genre its pretty good (I think of the genre as early 90s abstract house & techno even though this is recent). Yay for artists named larry.
