Should I buy Happy Xmas(War is over) by the pop idols?

Next monday sees the release of the pop idols finalists version of Happy Xmas (War is over). This has got to be the best Christmas song ever purely for its sentiment-War is over IF YOU WANT IT. Thirty years after it's original release, the songs message is more sentient than ever, given the events of this year. Therefore I'd like to see the songs message get through to everyone, young and old. BUT, it's being released by the pop idols. Now, I must admit I find the pop idols TV programme great entertainment and watch it every week but have never bought a record that's been released by anyone who's ever been on it, and seriously think that Simon Cowell and his ilk are doing seriously bad things for the music industry in the long term, all for short term profit, but when I saw the video for "Happy Xmas" on the show last week a shiver went up my spine, because the song is SO GOOD. Only Chris spoilt it, too over the top as ever-glad he went out this week. So what should I do ?

someone on the radio last weekend said the original is also being released - maybe you should buy that instead?

But is war over? (I made this point before massive attack did honest)

Only get it if "Listen the Snow is Falling" is on the B Side. Otherwise, it's a total ripoff.

Agreed. I think it should be an EP with "Don't Worry Kyoko (Mummy's Only Looking For Her Hand in the Snow)" to really get one into the holiday spirit.

If the money goes to a well-deserved charity, then buy it and you have a nice hi-tech frisbee...

As I said on NYLPM, the main reason to hear this song is the v.funny moment when the SFX of a bomb exploding is mixed in just before the last chorus.
