Comedian Rik Mayall: “My deepest sympathy goes out to poor hapless Ozzy. I’m particularly sympathetic as well towards the whole family because I know how much I had to depend on mine.
“I particularly hope he recovers quickly because I’m a big fan and I want to hear him sing Take Me Out to the Ballgame again.”
Like Osbourne, Mayall was sedated and in a coma after a motorizedbike accident on his property. Although recovered, Mayallhas been on seizure medications for four years. Osbourne had revealed a week earlier that he had been put on large quantities of seizure medications by his Los Angeles doctor. The medicineshad made him fall into the surf at Malibu and pass out on "The Osbournes."
Additional well-wishers included the White House. A brief statementwas released in which President George W. Bush expressed hope the rockstar would recover quickly. "Our hopes and prayers go out to Ozzy Osbourne and his family in their time of travail. Ozzy is a good American and his countrymen know that he will fight through this and get well."
It is said Bush feels a connection with Osbourne because when the star of TV and records was once invited to stay at the White Housethe two hit it off. Doctors hope Osbourne will eventually be able to breathe unassisted.
