Elvis C marries Diana K: the multitudes yawn

So apparently Elvis Costello and Diana Krall have made it official and tied the knot at Elton John's mansion in England. Many celebrities attended. No one else has posted on this yet, which leads me to believe--despite all of the starpower here--that there's something inherently boring about the whole thing. I want to care, but I can't. Is there something wrong with me, or is this just...dull?

well, I just hope he comes to live here (in Canada, not in my building) so that we can get CanCon points for playing his next shitty record.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 11 December 2003 19:46 (twenty-two years ago)

CanCon by marriage! Apparently they have a home in B.C. so maybe he will be CanCon from now on. That would assume anyone wants to play the songs, though.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 11 December 2003 19:48 (twenty-two years ago)

CanCon sadly doesn't work retroactively (i don't think, at least).

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 11 December 2003 19:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Anything D. Krall is involved in puts me to sleep. Compounding that, I hear Elvis is touring with the Brodsky Quartet again. Zzzzzzzzzz......

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 11 December 2003 19:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Why do you want to care Sean?

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 11 December 2003 19:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I kinda want to care because despite many boring albums lately I still kinda like Elvis Costello overall. But I apparently now care more about the fact that I don't care.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Thursday, 11 December 2003 20:04 (twenty-two years ago)

he's breaking my dad's heart.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DECEMBER 11, 2003

RUSH ANNOUNCES 2004 TOUR PLANS;
TREK MARKS TRIO'S 30TH ANNIVERSARY

Canadian rock icons Rush have revealed plans to mark their 30th
anniversary year by hitting the road for a major global concert tour in
2004. The band's Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee unveiled the news last night
during a special appearance on the nationally syndicated radio show,
Rockline. While specific dates and on-sale info have yet to be announced,
Lifeson and Lee did note that Rush will play dates across Canada, the US and
around the world, including their first European shows in more than a
decade.

Rush's most recent Anthem/Universal Music release is Rush In Rio, a
three-disc live CD capturing the legendary trio - Lee, Lifeson, and Neil
Peart - performing in concert at the world famous Maracana Stadium in Rio de
Janeiro, Brazil on the final night of 2002's "Vapor Trails" tour. In
addition, a two-disc Rush In Rio DVD was released simultaneously. The set -
Rush's first-ever live DVD collection - has proven a remarkable success, and
has just hit 6X Platinum in Canada.

Hey now....be nice to Rush!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 11 December 2003 20:23 (twenty-two years ago)

We are on different wavelengths this week, Alex.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 11 December 2003 20:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I seem to be on a different wavelength with the entirety of ILX these days, and full expect to be tarred, feathered and run out of town on a rail, figuratively speaking, in a matter of days.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 11 December 2003 20:25 (twenty-two years ago)

and FWIW, I think I remember like The Hunger but am in denial about my pre-ado flirtation with goth.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 11 December 2003 20:27 (twenty-two years ago)

"The Hunger" is a simply a great movie, whether you like The Nephilim or the fuckin' Dixie Chicks. How one couldn't appreciate it baffles me.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 11 December 2003 20:28 (twenty-two years ago)

shit, I mean I think I remember likING The Hunger

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 11 December 2003 20:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I do like a lot of the things you post in favour of.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Thursday, 11 December 2003 20:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't help but be annoyed that the CNN headline linked above says "Diana Krall marries Elvis Costello" and not the other way around. I mean, I know she's got more Grammies, but c'mon!

Al (sitcom), Friday, 12 December 2003 04:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh man my mom plays Diana Krall all the time on low volume when she's hanging around the house. It's like this thick, creepy aura of 'adultness' permeating the entire household. Remember when Bart and Lisa got Barry White to help out the snakes? It's like that, and that's the way it is. If I ever see that giant bitch in town.....

DarrensCoq, Friday, 12 December 2003 04:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't call your mom a giant bitch!

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Friday, 12 December 2003 05:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha! (bows)

DarrensCoq, Friday, 12 December 2003 05:50 (twenty-two years ago)

1. I don't know what she sees in him.

2. Elton John's mansion?

the pinefox, Friday, 12 December 2003 13:35 (twenty-two years ago)

it must be love pf.

sean is insane.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 12 December 2003 13:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Is Diana Krall to Boomers what the soundtrack to South Pacific was to their parents?

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 12 December 2003 15:01 (twenty-two years ago)

"Elvis C marries Diana K: the multitudes yawn, Sean Carruthers starts a thread about it."

jed (jed_e_3), Friday, 12 December 2003 15:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I met him once at a LP signing. "Spike" at Tower Records, Piccadilly.

I "accused" him of writing "Piece of the action" by Buck's Fizz. he smiled...

Funnily enough, he's been going downhill ever since...

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 12 December 2003 15:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't help but be annoyed that the CNN headline linked above says "Diana Krall marries Elvis Costello" and not the other way around. I mean, I know she's got more Grammies, but c'mon!

You're right, but IT IS HIS OWN FUCKING FAULT! HE'S GOTTEN SO BOOOOOOOORING LATELY!

Jay Kid (Jay K), Friday, 12 December 2003 15:06 (twenty-two years ago)

When I Was Cruel was a good record!
That's what makes it so maddening! I mean if he had been sucking and sucking, I'd be like, "ah, fuck 'em!"

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 12 December 2003 15:08 (twenty-two years ago)

You have to read it as "diana krall marrRIES ELVIS COSTELLLLLOOOO!!!!!" (rising tone)

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 12 December 2003 15:09 (twenty-two years ago)

"Elvis C marries Diana K: the multitudes yawn, Sean Carruthers starts a thread about it."

Hey hey, bucko, that'd be 'Sean C' to fit the rest of the thread title. But yeah, it's kinda dumb that I feel more compelled to start a thread about how I don't care than to start one about the event itself. Julio is OTM.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 12 December 2003 15:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I shudder at the thought of the duet record that will come out of this marriage.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 12 December 2003 15:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I wonder if they invited Gary Peacock to the wedding.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 12 December 2003 15:14 (twenty-two years ago)

well, they sucked up the already sucky willie nelson all star concert in a suck-duster duet

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 12 December 2003 15:15 (twenty-two years ago)
