Anyone heard this? Never got into the post-Banshees stuff but this seems inexplicably attractive..

Baaderist (Fabfunk), Friday, 12 December 2003 09:54 (twenty-two years ago)

i heard it was all instrumental. True?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 12 December 2003 10:16 (twenty-two years ago)

there is a ltd edition of the album that includes instrumental version of the lp. dont believe the lp proper is all instrumental. there is also a different ltd edition that includes a DVD of them doing stuff live. go figure.
i think it appeals due to the gorgeous packaging .. it has caught my eye on several occasions - heard one track weeks ago and was mildly impressed ..

mark e (mark e), Friday, 12 December 2003 10:34 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, this seems to be one of 2003's "lost" albums (rightly or wrongly, i cannot say tho'). I saw it in HMV on day of release and then it vanished. And not a mention on ILM until now

all particularly surprising given Siouxsie is currently ultra cool 'n all thanks to 'Cish Cash'

zebedee (zebedee), Friday, 12 December 2003 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I recently read an article on this album. I didn't realize it was actually out!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 12 December 2003 14:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I saw it in a shop a couple of weeks ago and it's true that it's the lavish packaging that caught my eye..

Baaderist (Fabfunk), Friday, 12 December 2003 14:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't know it was out either! Must find this...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 12 December 2003 14:19 (twenty-two years ago)

MY GOD THIS IS THE BEST CD I'VE BOUGHT ALL YEAR.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 15 December 2003 22:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Is it really that good, Dan? Wow.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 00:07 (twenty-two years ago)

That was an initial euphoric reaction, but now that I've settled down it's still easily in my top 5 of the year. It's also the best Creatures release since _Boomerang_.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 00:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Honestly, "Seven Tears" is one of the best songs recorded this year. Working with a kodo drummer and holding off on adding vocals until the percussion parts were all recorded and fleshed out seems to have made all the difference in the world.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 00:14 (twenty-two years ago)

ooo-wee. Now I def. need to get this..

Baaderist (Fabfunk), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 08:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Saw it over the weekend but did not have the cash to pick it up. But soon, soon.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 13:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Didn't find it in my local store but used the opportunity to finally get the Bestiary. 'Gecko' might just be my new favorite song!

Baaderist (Fabfunk), Monday, 22 December 2003 10:52 (twenty-two years ago)

three weeks pass...
Hmm, Dan, I have to disagree with you on this one... I've heard it 3-4 times and it just seems kinda boring. Maybe it'll be a grower but for now it strikes me as pretty lifeless.

Baaderist (Fabfunk), Thursday, 15 January 2004 15:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I've really liked it on each and every listen ... but haven't been motivated to listen all that much. So I don't know what that means. I think I only have 'Hai!' moods occasionally.

Some of Sioux's lyrics seem a bit "Oh.. we need some words on this track? Ok, give me ten minutes." but it's all about the drumming really. Which is amazing.

Obviously.

Muppet Boy, Thursday, 15 January 2004 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah, and 'Godzilla' should have made the UK top 20 - but large amounts of its sales were ruled off because they all came from one record store (the one linked to by www.thecreatures.com at the time which rather EXPLAINS THE SALES). Apparently the chart compiler guys didn't believe it could have sold that many through one shop.

So the story goes, anyway. All rather unfair :-(

Muppet Boy, Thursday, 15 January 2004 16:12 (twenty-two years ago)

"Godzilla" is awesome, yes.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 15 January 2004 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

two months pass...
My girlfriend got this at Best Buy last night. I've only heard a couple tracks but I love it, I'm surprised I never heard anything about it. Sure, the lyrics seem sort of tossed off, but the Budgie + taiko drumming is just fantastic.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 9 April 2004 13:49 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
!! fopp - £5 incl the instrumental extras !!

was never a S&B fan so cant compare to the classics of old

.. but on first dips this is something i can see will really hit the spot ..

mark e (mark e), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 11:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Heh, forgot to add to this thread that I did pick it up and indeed it utterly roxors.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 11:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay, now I have to find where I misplaced this CD.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 12:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I love Hai!

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 12:56 (twenty-one years ago)

ten years pass...

Listened to this for the first time in years. I always felt it missed the mark but now I realize that's because the second half is all down-tempo stuff and detracts from the very good first half.
