or any other album, for that matter.

Ian Johnson (orion), Saturday, 13 December 2003 04:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Were I to partake, I doubt Abbey Road would be the first album I'd reach for. It's too all over the place (not necessarily a bad thing, but not idea for the activity in question).

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 13 December 2003 04:34 (twenty-two years ago)

yes, i get high, and i don't mind that abbey road's all over the place, but my furstt choice in the lissening pile's "beaches and canyons" followed by "Future days". i doubt i'd ever twist it up and select abbey road chief among all others, even on my most rockist eves.

Dr. Annabel Lies (Michael Kelly), Saturday, 13 December 2003 04:39 (twenty-two years ago)

i used to listen to beaches&canyons all the time. then my girlfriend told me to stop because it sounded like animals dying. but she's not here; it's going on nexxxxt.

Ian Johnson (orion), Saturday, 13 December 2003 04:41 (twenty-two years ago)

are there any albums like abbey road that sound kinda like beaches and canyons?

Sonny A. (Keiko), Saturday, 13 December 2003 04:43 (twenty-two years ago)

hrm.

olivia tremor control's black foliage has a few extended instrumental pieces, and lots of weird noises on it. and it sounds like the best beatles album never made! one of the few beatles/beachboys worshipping indie groops i can really, really get into.

Ian Johnson (orion), Saturday, 13 December 2003 04:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I really like track 13 on that album... i forget what it's called.. i'm gonna download that

Sonny A. (Keiko), Saturday, 13 December 2003 04:47 (twenty-two years ago)

This used to be a favorite for such instances.....

maybe united states of america's first lp? you could do worse than replaying "she's so heavy" over and over again. or not...

Dr. Annabel Lies (Michael Kelly), Saturday, 13 December 2003 04:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, but you'll go furiously scrambling for the remote every time "Octopus' Garden" and/or "Maxwell's Silver Fuckin' Hammer" bleat out of the spearks like a damp fart.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 13 December 2003 04:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Vs.

NO. I /LIKE/ "OCTOPUS'S GARDEN"!

Ian Johnson (orion), Saturday, 13 December 2003 04:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Winners don't do Abbey Road.

may pang (maypang), Saturday, 13 December 2003 05:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Dr. Annabel Lies (Michael Kelly), Saturday, 13 December 2003 05:02 (twenty-two years ago)

That's a purdy good choice, Alex.

Sonny A. (Keiko), Saturday, 13 December 2003 05:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Dr. Annabel Lies (Michael Kelly), Saturday, 13 December 2003 05:06 (twenty-two years ago)

OMfuckinG "why" is kickin major major major major ass - gawbless friday nitez!!!!

Dr. Annabel Lies (Michael Kelly), Saturday, 13 December 2003 05:07 (twenty-two years ago)

hehe ... Yoko's Plastic Ono Band record is easily one of the greatest horse-killing records ever recorded, but I'm not so sure I would want to listen to it stoned....

Broheems (diamond), Saturday, 13 December 2003 05:19 (twenty-two years ago)

god that record is so fucking great. I just had to say it again. I totally forgot to list on that "500 greatest records not in the Rolling Stone list" thread.. What a moron I can be at times.

Broheems (diamond), Saturday, 13 December 2003 05:20 (twenty-two years ago)

It'd be pretty cool on speed.

may pang (maypang), Saturday, 13 December 2003 05:22 (twenty-two years ago)

no biggie, i was gonna offer sincerest a polly loggies for derailin (altho "why" ROXORZ) seriously ilm massif, SPARK IT dddzzzzhhrrrwrsrrzrzrzr

Dr. Annabel Lies (Michael Kelly), Saturday, 13 December 2003 05:24 (twenty-two years ago)

LMAO may pang I'm SO feeling that assessment!

Dr. Annabel Lies (Michael Kelly), Saturday, 13 December 2003 05:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Ok, I just put it on too!! Man, "Why" invents Gang of Four 8 years ahead of schedule. And that's just the music!! Yoko's vocals are otherworldly. God, John and Yoko were so fucking cool. Beatles haterz really piss me off.

Broheems (diamond), Saturday, 13 December 2003 05:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I wonder if Julio Desouza knows this record..

Broheems (diamond), Saturday, 13 December 2003 05:37 (twenty-two years ago)

or Sundar, he'd love it.

Broheems (diamond), Saturday, 13 December 2003 05:38 (twenty-two years ago)

are there any other really good screaming records like that?? Plastic Ono Band and Sonny Sharrock's Black Woman are two of my favorites!!

Sonny A. (Keiko), Saturday, 13 December 2003 05:38 (twenty-two years ago)

well, Sainkho Namtchylak's stuff certainly fits the bill. She's amazing, mind-blowing, other superlatives... Lost Rivers on FMP is a bona fide classic of free-think spew.

Broheems (diamond), Saturday, 13 December 2003 05:42 (twenty-two years ago)

and, oh yeah, the criminally under-documented Patty Waters belongs in the scream-bliss pantheon..

Broheems (diamond), Saturday, 13 December 2003 05:47 (twenty-two years ago)

If I had some pot right now, I'd put on Goat. I haven't had pot in a loooong time, you see, and not only was that the first album I got high listening to -- it's one of my big "pot" albums, along with (get this) Murmur -- it also kicks major serious amounts of ass.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Saturday, 13 December 2003 05:54 (twenty-two years ago)

s/t patty waters lp i didn't have the 40+ $$$ to pony up for the OG ESP, though i'm totally up for owning it, and i loved side 1 - is "college tour" worth it? ALSO "plague mass" was mentioned in passing recently - is this rewarding multiple playback? and finally, is anyone ontoppa Tenko "at the top of mt brocken", one of the few at my omnipresent TOPtennerz evah? given my top five at the moment, with "why" riding high, 's it a wristslittin' triumph? give it up - like sonny, i LUVS me some plastic ono and Black Woman pockie boooo

Dr. Annabel Lies (Michael Kelly), Saturday, 13 December 2003 05:55 (twenty-two years ago)

woah m'bad once again for giving this thredd the once over mit regards to feminist screed over stoner compliance - yeashhh i'm actually luvvin "mean mr mustard" ---> "polythene pam" but SHIIIIITT bring on th' skreeemin....

Dr. Annabel Lies (Michael Kelly), Saturday, 13 December 2003 06:13 (twenty-two years ago)

auuurghggwggh - indie dance / punk funk thread to thread - "WHY" will take on all haterz - ohm shit had to jump back to this rekkid after abbey - sorry Ianstigator, how could this track lie dormant for so long?!?!?!? still contend both "she's so heavy" and "things will never be the same" are stoner MANTRAS

Dr. Annabel Lies (Michael Kelly), Saturday, 13 December 2003 06:34 (twenty-two years ago)

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

post-woman-hunting quest (unsuccesful), i am once again on drugs, and now i am listening to "soak the saddle" by arab on radar and eating my faceeeee

Ian Johnson (orion), Saturday, 13 December 2003 06:37 (twenty-two years ago)

what are you on?

Sonny A. (Keiko), Saturday, 13 December 2003 07:01 (twenty-two years ago)

i havent in a while but i really like ambient jungl/dnb, and video games. ive never tried any other music, really, becuase early in my smoking phase i had a bad experience with another substance that wasnt supposed to be mixed with the initial substance, and Progression Sessions Vol. 1 with Bukem and Conrad was somehow the only thing that calmed me down.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Saturday, 13 December 2003 07:02 (twenty-two years ago)

earlier when i was reading this thread i was thinking "goddddd i wish i were on drugs right now, any drugs! gimme" and then I sat around pathetic for a while and then my friends came through the door like "hey we've got all this cheap wine, let's get drunk
"

and then we listen to "why" it was brill!! i < 3 this thread!!

Sonny A. (Keiko), Saturday, 13 December 2003 07:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Patty Waters is really only good for her rendition of Black Is the Color of my True Love's Hair, and even then, the only noteworthy part of that is the screaming bit-- proto-yoko. The rest of her stuff's pretty pedestrian sounding, if you ask me.

may pang (maypang), Saturday, 13 December 2003 07:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I kinda finally understood Spaceman 3: "Suicide" when I listened to it stoned., it was sort of a magical experience.

Cacman Flores, Saturday, 13 December 2003 07:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I had some good times with the Stone Roses. And watched Good Times stoned. Octopus'Garden has one of Georgie's best guitar parts ever.

Speedy Gonzalas (Speedy Gonzalas), Saturday, 13 December 2003 10:37 (twenty-two years ago)

vh1 classic is great for stoned nights.
that video for pressure by billy joel rocked my world last week.

thomas de'aguirre (biteylove), Saturday, 13 December 2003 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)
