Is Timbaland & Magoo's Indian Flute Racist?

In a similar way to React, Tim and Magoo smirk jokey/dismissive comments about not understanding what the Indian singer says and then mimic her, making silly noises. Despite the fact that its possibly the most original and affecting use of Indian music in rap yet, does anyone think the song's sentiment can be construed as racist?

erick sermon f redman - react an old thread on React. Obviously i didn't mean 'sentiment'. Pretend that says something else, you can choose, whatever you think is most appropriate.

Personally i find it kind of embarrasing, but not offensive. Embarrasing especially because e-dub had the same idea about 2 years ago. Still, it's a wicked beat.

I think its Timbalands way of poking fun at all the producers who copies that whole Indian flute/voice thing he started. I think "Naughty Eye" is genius - isn't that the same Indian? hee.

Sermon's idea was brilliant. Just Blaze ruined it.

Just Blaze's beat sounded like a lame attempt to sound like Timbaland - I'd record "Indian Flute" too. and "Indian Carpet 2"

that's just mental, man. i can't think of one *asian* timbaland beat that's as catchy as "react". (obv. in the grand scheme timbaland >> just blaze, so far anyway)

The 'React' beat might be memorable, but beats usually are! The samples were *begging* for Timbaland, as good as Just Blaze is.

"timbaland >> just blaze"

What does this mean??

Anyway, I don't like the beat. I've enjoyed Timbaland and Mannie Fresh for years now and I don't hear enough new-ness in Just Blaze's bounce beats to excite me.

7 > 2 = "seven is bigger than two"

new order > u2 = "new order is a bigger deal than u2"

timbaland >> just blaze = "timbaland is way better than just blaze[, you sad pathetic excuse for a man, god why do i even talk to you?]"
