A No-Neck Blues Band Question

Does any know if there's a NNCK discography site - pref. w/ tracklistings etc. - anywhere on the interweb? I was googling for one earlier, but couldn't seem to find anything.

Thank you

Andrew L (Andrew L), Monday, 15 December 2003 21:45 (twenty-two years ago)

there's nothing definitive/complete at all.

places to search for weird information, sometimes: eBay, Eclipse Records, record stores. amg has a few things.

Ian Johnson (orion), Monday, 15 December 2003 21:47 (twenty-two years ago)

www.theserth.com for tour dates and cryptic non-info, but nothing even close to a discography. i can help you out of you have any specific questions, i have most of those records...

roger adultery (roger adultery), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 00:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks Ian and Rog - my main question is to do w/ the tracklisting of 'Letters from the Earth', which I was copying for someone - there are three tracks on each of the two discs, but only, as far as I can see, five tracks listed on the inlay sleeve - and I can't really make out what the titles are anyway!

Also, I've seen a single NNCK disc called 'Letter from the Earth', which I think is a kind of sequel to the earlier dbl - but what is it exactly? Some of the track titles appear to be the same?

Is it wrong - against the spirit of the 'project' etc. - to still want to know abt track titles, personnel, recording dates etc. for this kind of exotic mystery underground stuff (see also Sun City Girls etc etc)? I can't help it, I LOVE discographies!

Andrew L (Andrew L), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 00:52 (twenty-two years ago)

if i had 'earth' in front of me, i could straighten it out for you.

the single disc is entitled "letters from the serth" and it is recorded exactly a year after on orthodox easter, the track titles slightly off (see: john the baptist vs. joan the baptist).

Beta (abeta), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 01:11 (twenty-two years ago)

how's 'letters from the serth' btw?

''Is it wrong - against the spirit of the 'project' etc. - to still want to know abt track titles, personnel, recording dates etc. for this kind of exotic mystery underground stuff (see also Sun City Girls etc etc)? I can't help it, I LOVE discographies!''

I kind of like knowing abt dates, who was there and certain recording details though I'm not sure I want to know abt discography because some bands release SO MUCH stuff and YOU JUST KNOW you won't get even half of it, which makes me sad.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 21:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think there is anything close to a real discography anywhere on the net, at least none that I have seen. I think its pretty safe to assume that are dozens of releases of varying shaoes, sizes and media.

just try and suck in all you can, is my advice

chris besinger (chris besinger), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 21:33 (twenty-two years ago)

has anyone here been to the hinthouse?

chris besinger (chris besinger), Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:23 (twenty-two years ago)

yes.

hstencil, Tuesday, 16 December 2003 22:32 (twenty-two years ago)

totally weird place, man, being there does not demystify the riddle at all - it's like going back in time. Contrary to what alot of folks say, most of them (6 of the 9) are really, really nice and accomodating.

T. Weiss (Timmy), Sunday, 11 April 2004 15:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Got 'letters from the serth' and easily as good as the rec on revenant.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 11 April 2004 15:57 (twenty-two years ago)

they're playing a free show with Japanther sometime soon in NYC, and the ridiculously priced show with the Sun City Girls ($17?? I can't afford that, probably.)

Ian Johnson (orion), Sunday, 11 April 2004 16:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think the pair of new LPs are out yet, Weiss. All I know is one is called Dutch Money. Should be cool.

Ian - why don't you just go see them at N6 on May 1st with Gang Gang Dance? I'll be at that one.

roger adultery (roger adultery), Sunday, 11 April 2004 16:05 (twenty-two years ago)

well, i do want to see SCG too. we'll see, though.

Ian Johnson (orion), Sunday, 11 April 2004 16:22 (twenty-two years ago)

the show w/ scg blew me away more than i can say. anyone have the details on the show at barnard college next week?

What's up with all those unreleased LPs???

Shocked and awed to discover that I own at least 85% of that list (the released stuff, of course...)

roger adultery (roger adultery), Saturday, 24 April 2004 03:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Wow, thanks sexydancer that is v. useful. I own abt two of these recs.

Andrew L (Andrew L), Saturday, 24 April 2004 19:38 (twenty-two years ago)

holy fuck.

they were good on friday, and the new 'dutch money' LP is good stuff.

i4n j0hnson, Monday, 26 April 2004 20:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Huh. The only thing on there that I own is the No Neck Blues Explosion 7" which I always wondered about. It is Thurston Moore. I shoulda known.

Magic City (ano ano), Monday, 26 April 2004 21:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I always thought the NNBX 7" sounded too rockist to be true parody ... now we know why.

sexyDancer, Monday, 26 April 2004 21:35 (twenty-two years ago)

For pranks, I prefer the Household Objects 7"

roger adultery (roger adultery), Monday, 26 April 2004 21:37 (twenty-two years ago)

so...anyone going to N6 tonight?

roger adultery (roger adultery), Saturday, 1 May 2004 19:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Why is there never any talk of Intonomancy? Is this generally regarded as sub-par NNCK? Because I love it.

mcd (mcd), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 00:14 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't think it's regarded as sub par musically. maybe you're picking up that since the packaging is just a normal jewel case it doesn't physically carry as much mystique. but in reality (music) it definitely does though doesn't it?

duke case, Tuesday, 4 May 2004 00:44 (twenty-two years ago)

It appears that whenever there's an s/d or the like this one's never mentioned, I just wonder why that is? I'm no expert but I really enjoy this disc.

mcd (mcd), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 00:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I find it a bit difficult to get lost in that one. Aren't there like 12 tracks?

I like to put on nnck records and just get into 'the zone' wherever that may be, but Intonomancy seems almost like it's geared toward short attenetion spans or something. It seemed to come out with little fanfare too.

The new LPs are killer, though - their best since Ken's Electric Lake or maybe even Hoichoi.

They were pretty good at N6 the other night too (though I've seen them better)

roger adultery (roger adultery), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 00:52 (twenty-two years ago)

This is true, it is over an hour long.

I will have to seek out those two new LPs... thx!

mcd (mcd), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 01:02 (twenty-two years ago)

intonomancy is great. for me, slightly below "sticks and stones," though my favorites overall are "ken's electric lake" and "birth of both worlds." this week.

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 02:43 (twenty-two years ago)

"They were pretty good at N6"

i enjoyed sexy's antics, where's the yodfather when you need him tho?

duke arthur, Tuesday, 4 May 2004 02:46 (twenty-two years ago)

shrooming for sweet deals like the rest of "The Greatest Generation" I reckon

sexyDancer, Tuesday, 4 May 2004 03:51 (twenty-two years ago)
