Dan, without getting into whether an opinion can actually be "right" or "wrong", I'm hardly the first person to prefer the Foul Play remix to the original. What is it that you prefer about the original? Or is there another remix you feel is superior?

Ha, sorry about that, it's just that I knew someone was going to say that sooner or later and I was all ready to pounce.

There's a strong sense of space and pacing in the original that really appeals to me; the remix sounds too rushed and busy in comparison. Keep in mind I heard the remix first and loved it, THEN discovered the original and was all "WOAH THIS IS ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS EVER". Then _Haunted Science_ came out and I wanted to stab him in the neck for sucking so bad, but that's another story.

(Similar relationship between original and remix, but in the case of the Austin track the extra velocity/density turns it into a completely bonkers funhouse-gone-apeshit bonanza of breakbeat fury that dwarfs the original.)

I too heard the original for the first time ages after first hearing the foul play remix. I agree that the original is a massive track, and the sense of space compared to the remix is what makes it work. But given the context in which I first heard the remix, "rushed and busy" weren't necessarily bad things. Was a pretty predictable answer though.

depeche mode - master and servants - ON-U sound reremix. this ltd 12" completely kicked me into touch. made me buy far too much ON-U sound records. stunning distorted white noise monster of a track.
