Is anyone else having any trouble with this?

http://www.xfm.co.uk/flipflopflyin

it says get 60 out of 75 and you can enter the prize draw to win an ipod but there are only 70 pictures. I got 55 and it said I could enter the draw but nothing happened when I clicked on the link. There are also a few that I know I have right but I can't figure out exactly how to enter the answers (numbers 4, 24, 57, 60, 61 & 68). I'm up for a bit of answer trading if anyone else is.

neil simpson (neil simpson), Thursday, 18 December 2003 12:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Got 57 and 61 now. Oh and change 4 to 5 in above list.

I am stuck on: 10, 13, 30, 31, 34, 52, 54, 58, 59

neil simpson (neil simpson), Thursday, 18 December 2003 13:13 (twenty-two years ago)

stuck on 15, i know (banana)

It's great when you're straight yeah

cut/paste...

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 18 December 2003 13:22 (twenty-two years ago)

m15 = Madness 'One step Beyond' (I only got it from the pose and then allmusic (who else would stand like that! Madness, I tells ya!))

neil simpson (neil simpson), Thursday, 18 December 2003 13:25 (twenty-two years ago)

nono the velvets one. what/how do they want this..

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 18 December 2003 13:25 (twenty-two years ago)

i have the poster on my bedroom door

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 18 December 2003 13:26 (twenty-two years ago)

the link doesn't work for me tho, where is it supposed to go? i assume this is about ID'ing Minipops?

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 18 December 2003 13:27 (twenty-two years ago)

24 is the velvets one. stuck...

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 18 December 2003 13:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Bloody 2x-post

I count Velvets as 24. I have no idea how they want it

What are minipops? The quiz has a lot of mini pixelated album covers that you have to identify the artist and title of and then ENTER THEM IN EXACTLY THE RIGHT FORMAT!!!! :-(

btw "Type your answers in capital letters and ignore punctuation."

wtf?

neil simpson (neil simpson), Thursday, 18 December 2003 13:29 (twenty-two years ago)

34 = the cure - boys don't cry
54 = the cure - japanese whispers

zappi (joni), Thursday, 18 December 2003 13:31 (twenty-two years ago)

It gives you a clue at the top of the page if you look, first form name is name of artist, second is name of the album. The quiz is ridiculously easy.

Rob M (Rob M), Thursday, 18 December 2003 13:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Cheers Zappi.

neil simpson (neil simpson), Thursday, 18 December 2003 13:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Anyway, I got to sixty so I am outahere.

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 18 December 2003 13:36 (twenty-two years ago)

It says to ignore punctuation so I put Boys Dont Cry and got it wrong. Put Boys Don't Cry and it's right. WTF?

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 18 December 2003 13:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Definitely think the Elastica one looks better than the original cover...

Winterland, Thursday, 18 December 2003 13:39 (twenty-two years ago)

tip: Some bands are "the" i.e. ignore and some are "The" i.e. mandatory...

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 18 December 2003 13:41 (twenty-two years ago)

the velvet underground - the velvet underground & nico

its all in the & sign.......grr!

zappi (joni), Thursday, 18 December 2003 13:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, that's bloody annoying cos some of them have "and".

Still, it's easy to get 60 if you play around with it.

James Ball (James Ball), Thursday, 18 December 2003 13:49 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, so now I've got 60 after typing them all in again cos my computer went mental and the bloody link still doesn't work. GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

neil simpson (neil simpson), Thursday, 18 December 2003 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Lost all my answers again.

:(

neil simpson (neil simpson), Thursday, 18 December 2003 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Did you click on that "keep my answers" cookie thing?

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 18 December 2003 14:06 (twenty-two years ago)

er... not really.

I think I may be a moron.

neil simpson (neil simpson), Thursday, 18 December 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I've got the rest but I'm still racking my brains over 22 and 30.

Abit unfair:
34 - was a US only release (the UK equivalent had a different sleeve)
46 - album title spelled incorrectly (they've missed a "T")
58 - is an unlicensed budget-line comp. AFAIK

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Thursday, 18 December 2003 14:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Neil,

I'm not sure if you still want these but anyway..

10 = Coldplay - Parachutes
13 = Dizzee Rascal - Boy in da corner
30 = The Smiths - Meat is Murder
31 = John Lennon and Yoko Ono - Double Fantasy
52 = Marilyn Manson - Mechanical Animals
59 = The Ramones - The Ramones

I'm stuck on 3,11,38,41,42,49,58 (I'm a completist)

I'm Nathan by the way. Don't hurt me because i'm new.

Nathan van den Berg, Thursday, 18 December 2003 14:31 (twenty-two years ago)

22 = Rolling Stones - Voodoo Lounge

Nathan van den Berg, Thursday, 18 December 2003 14:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks Nathan, and welcome!

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Thursday, 18 December 2003 14:43 (twenty-two years ago)

x-post

Hi nathan. Ta for that. I've got 60 now (and am going for the completist thing too!) but I can't get the damn link to work. :(

I had 52 down as marilyn manson but couldn't find the title on allmusic, same with the ramones.

3 = adam and the ants - prince charming
11 = the darkness - permission to land
38 = the pet shop boys - actually
41 = the lightning seeds - jollification
49 = Paul weller - stanley road
don't know what 58 is, think it's something ike the specials.

neil simpson (neil simpson), Thursday, 18 December 2003 14:44 (twenty-two years ago)

the 2-tone one is the specials - too much too young

NickB (NickB), Thursday, 18 December 2003 14:45 (twenty-two years ago)

If I'm counting right, 42 is Grace Jones - Island Life

NickB (NickB), Thursday, 18 December 2003 14:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a complete list now and I feel all satisfied. Now I only need to get it to work......

neil simpson (neil simpson), Thursday, 18 December 2003 14:57 (twenty-two years ago)

The Pet Shop Boys? Grr.

HTF do they want Sgt Pepper etc spelled?

OleM (OleM), Thursday, 18 December 2003 15:49 (twenty-two years ago)

the beatles - sgt. pepper's lonely hearts club band

zappi (joni), Thursday, 18 December 2003 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

that bloody punctuation again - I wish they'd make their mind up if they want it or not.

James Ball (James Ball), Thursday, 18 December 2003 18:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Anyone know what 23 (the one between the stones and the velvets) and 56 (between stone roses and the chilis) are? They're the only ones I'm stuck on and they're really bugging me!

Phil

PhilS, Thursday, 25 December 2003 14:27 (twenty-two years ago)

tom cleveland (tom cleveland), Thursday, 25 December 2003 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

billstevejim, Monday, 29 December 2003 00:58 (twenty-two years ago)

bucky wunderlick (bucky), Monday, 29 December 2003 19:59 (twenty-two years ago)

seventh row, between kylie + grace jones: lightning seed "Jollification"

Nik (Nik), Monday, 29 December 2003 20:19 (twenty-two years ago)

stevem: If the page isn't loading, then you probably have a popup blocker on. Xfm seems to be using some stupid popup for the quiz.

Anyone else (who is fluent with web development) notice this is all done on the web browser side? Meaning that there's a file with the answers already on your computer when you're taking the quiz. Just to mention in case, you know, someone wants to cheat.

mike h. (mike h.), Monday, 29 December 2003 20:20 (twenty-two years ago)

thanks, nik.

bucky wunderlick (bucky), Monday, 29 December 2003 20:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Ok, cheaters go here:
http://www2.xfm.co.uk/staticweb/EdFeatures/flipflopquiz/datastor.js

This is another one of those web quizzes where finding the answers is more for novelty value than for validation in their little contest, it seems.

mike h. (mike h.), Monday, 29 December 2003 20:24 (twenty-two years ago)

The Pet Shop Boys? Grr.

Yeah, me too. The only I didn't know was The Cure's Japanese Whispers...

JoB (JoB), Monday, 29 December 2003 21:59 (twenty-two years ago)

four years pass...

Anybody had a go at this year's quiz?
