Please help me ammend my Christmas wish list

So it seems like I'm usually about a year or two off of what good in music (I think this is mainly because of my usual insistence on purchasing used CDs). Over the holidays I go on a pilgrimage to the best of the local record stores. I have awful radio, and no ability to download music via the computer. So I rely much on the written word on finding out about new music. What follows is a list of some of the releases of this past year (I think) that, for some reason or another, I'm interested in. What I'd love is to get some feedback from you ILMers who have a strong opinion about any of these discs.

Circle- "Alotus"
Mice Parade- "Obrigado Saudade"
Twine - "Twine"
Plaid-"Spokes"
Brokeback-"Looks at the Bird"
Saloon-"If We Meet in the Future"
Daedelus-"Rethinking the Weather"
Do Make Say Think-"Winter Hymn Country Hymn Summer Hymn"
Chicken Lips-"DJ Kicks"
Schlammpeitziger-"Everything Without All Inclusive"
Four Tet-"Rounds"
Komeda-"Kokomemedada"
Kopernik-"Kopernik"
The Pastels-"The Last Great Wilderness"
Polmo Polpo-"Like Hearts Swelling"
Broadcast-"Haha Sound"
Cinematic Orchestra-"Man With A Movie Camera"
The Go-Betweens-"Bright Yellow Bright Orange"
Pram-"Dark Island"
Sea and Cake-"One Bedroom"
The Unicorns-"Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone"

if you have Everyday, you don't need to get Man With A Movie Camera, since it's most of the same songs.

I do, Felcher, so I won't. Thanks.

If this is your first daedelus purchase, i recommend the "living room" ep.

I haven't heard any Daedelus. Is the "Living Room" ep much earlier???

i liked the adventure time lp that just came out -- good, not great -- nice.

haha, it's actually called "the household" (not the livingroom, i have no idea why i wrote that). it came out early this year, i think in the spring.

that saloon record is not as good as their first one but you should still buy it instead of yo la tengo.
pram is my most favorite band so i love that record, it's better than the last one but i don't know anyone else who loves it, it's more atmospheric, not as noodly.
the broadcast album is lovely, a bit like adventures in stereo in graduate school and fewer doldrum moments than on the first album.
i didn't like four tet until this record, he's ditched the post-rockisms and i think the album is really great but i'm soft.
buy the komeda cd and then burn me a copy.
sea and cake are just plain dreadful.
haven't heard any of the rest though my friend kate has the pastels cd and she said it is only ok, lots of not interesting instrumentals, it's not like they are stellar musicians you know.

the pastels album is probably their least interesting album of all. i wouldn't start with it. the go-b's album is nice but again if it's going to be your first, it wouldn't be the one i'd choose.

The Sea and Cake are weird for me because I've heard two album by them: The first one I heard sucked hard, and the newer one was pretty good, except maybe for the vocals.

The Go-Betweens' latest wouldn't be my first. I've got much of their stuff. I was surprised at how good the Rachel Worth one was. How is "Bright Yellow Bright Orange" in comparison to that one?

I've never heard Saloon.

Why isn't the latest Komeda out over here (NAmerica)? I would have thought it'd be a successful release for Minty Fresh.

Bright Yellow is about 7/8ths as good as Rachel Worth. less groovy, cleaner, shinier, tighter.

saloon is a drone pop band coming from the twee-er side of things and i think yo la tengo is a good comparison even if i hate yo la tengo. the saloon singer has a lovely voice, she's singing in spanish and english and about russian cosmologists. the new one seems maybe a bit rushed coming so close to the last one but it's still mostly good to better than that.
no idea about the komeda thing, i thought their getting played on gilmore girls would have made them huge stars by now.
