Oooops. Posted this on ILE by accident. Sorry.

Awww shit, son. I found an old dusty copy of their first CD at the record store today--Because We're All In This Together, cira. 1996. It rules. Amazing harmonica, amazing rock and roll smashing and a lunatic vocalist.
Their other records are pretty great as well. Efforts in Freedumb is all instrumental, bass/drums/saxophone/various electronics. It's amazing. Great fucking music--kinda grimy and sleazy; very rhythmic.

Similar to Because We're All In This Together is On Safari. It's pretty good. No harmonica, but sometimes electronic squeeeekingszz.

What Is True, What Is False is way different. Short, hard songs. Just bass/drums and vocals. Denser and thicker. Heavier. Weird kinda dubby production on some tracks!! Worthwhile!

Olneyville Sound System is an American trio noise evolving/moving in clicks LOAD RECORDS (they there left already an album in quartet...) and HEPARIN (at which one discovered the first album of ARAB ONE RADAR...)) and participant in other projects at TROUBLEMAN (Pixeltan) or VERMIFORM (Landed...). Not of the young fellows in the style thus! Recorded in 1999, low, voice, battery, its estampillé "dub" for the side "sound system", entender by there the particularly significant prominence of reverbs and other sound subtleties (to listen to the battery and the voice sometimes...). Low gross well distorted a little with the ARAB ONE RADAR, voice éraillée well guturale, major and irritated, well regulated, heavy and particularly significant battery and ahead at these bargeots... Ca resembles by far these degenerate of FLIPPER with some relents Noise Gras BOVINE way, of the name of the label noise of the middle of the Nineties... Ca crawls in quite wet mud, a universe very "in inside", not hesitating to go to make some turns on the side of No wave of Providence (city of the ARAB...)... There these Olneyville Sound System sign a fatty disc in the touch, orange in the vinyl, noise in hearing, a universe tended in gas ball... kind of star lends to imploser... More than to await the final implosion and to contemplate the supernova who is induced...

Jez: Mum rang to say that my Uncle Ray is a bit ill.
Mark: Yeah? Is it serious?
Jez: Dunno. He's in the hospice so I guess he's being looked after.
Mark: Hospice? You... Jez, you know what a hospice is, don't you?
Jez: Like a hospital but... nicer.
Mark: A hospice is where people go to... Who... are terminally ill.
Jez: Oh. Right. Yeah, Mum said he was... what you said. I'm sure he'll be fine. He's not a quitter.
Mark: Well, I have to say, probably not, mate. Probably not.
Jez: No, he won't quit.

Thanks, Ian. Much appreciated.

Jeff W (zebedee), Friday, 3 March 2006 11:53 (twenty years ago)

woah. I forgot about this band.

My roomate had a copy of the LP on Load and would always play "Not Feelin' 2 Good" when she DJ'd and it would totally work on a dancefloor.

Great record... too bad i never got to see them live.

grady (grady), Friday, 3 March 2006 16:17 (twenty years ago)

they have the groove.
