Berkeley / Sackett (calstars), Sunday, 28 December 2003 06:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Aw, I went out of my way to not be obscure with my picks. When I think "classic rock," I equate it with bad commercial radio. I don't think "Tusk" has been played on the radio since 1979.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Sunday, 28 December 2003 06:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I, too, went with the commercial radio angle. Within any randomly selected two-day period, you will probably hear all of these songs on WDVE or WRRK in Pittsburgh without once having to resort to a phone-in request:

Blue Oyster Cult - "Don't Fear The Reaper"
Boston - "Don't Look Back"
Foreigner - "Urgent"
Lynyrd Skynyrd - "Saturday Night Special"
ZZ Top - "La Grange"
Aerosmith - "Walk This Way"
Doobie Brothers - "China Grove"
Guess Who - "No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature"
Foghat - "Slow Ride"
Styx - "Renegade"

John Fredland (jfredland), Sunday, 28 December 2003 13:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Someone help! I bought the CD "Best of Bravebelt" to get the lyrics to "Dunrobin's Gone." Although I have listened to the last verse about 30 times,I can't understand the words...sounds like "...for the wind is in your marrow and my heart is on the land..." I can't find the lyrics anywhere in print. What are the lyrics to the last verse of "Dunrobin's Gone"?

Thank you

Jerry Morgan, Tuesday, 6 January 2004 21:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmmmm....okay.

1. "The Low Spark of High Heel Boys" by Traffic
2. "Long Distance Runaround" by Yes
3. "Don't Look Back" by Boston
4. "Long, Long Way from Home" by Foreigner
5. "Dogs" by Pink Floyd
6. "In the Evening" by Led Zeppelin
7. "The Logical Song" by Supertramp
8. "Long Cool Woman (in a Black Dress)" by the Hollies
9. "I'm not in Love" by 10cc
10. "Love is Like Oxygen" by the Sweet

I'd also put down Kiss and Queen, but the former never seemed to get played on "classic rock" radio in the 70's, and there are too many Queen songs to cite.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Slade, "How Does It Feel"

God, I love that track, but I thought it was too-obscure UK glam to list.
