The only thing music-related I got for Christmas this year: Mr. Mellencamp's "American Fool," featuring the hits "Hurts So Good" and "Jack and Diane." Yeah. So what do you guys think, keep this one in the CD library or sell it back to Planet Music as quick as possible?

what an odd odd gift. have you listened to it all yet?

Listened to it once through. Minus the two hits, most of the songs didn't leave much of an impression.

You need to listen to each song on repeat ten times in a row.

I would say run over it with your car myself.

John Cougar Mellencamp? Is this debatable?

Of course not! He's THE COOG!

JCM is everything people pretend Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan are.

adam is OTM.

He's not a major artist, but he's certainly good, and gets very little respect. I say keep it for sure.

Also, re adam's post, Springsteen is (usually) way more overblown, and Dylan is way more obscure. Mellencamp is pretty straight-ahead, and better yet.

He's a prick x10 Return on principle
