Guns N Roses Vs Catatonia

Hmm... Ian Brown once claimed Guns n Roses were "the worst band of all time" and he was not far off. Whilst "Sweet Child of Mine" has something of a nice riff to it, even when placed up against one of British music's least impressive bands Guns n Roses come up short. Catatonia did have "You got a lot to Answer For" and "Kareoke Queen" which I remember enjoying at the time.

So Catatonia win this one.

Road Rage was bearable. "She's a Millionaire" was alright.

Bleed is easily the best thing Catatonia ever did, but I bet Cerys Matthews could drink Axl Rose under the table and then give him a "dirty Beppe" while he was unconscious. On the other hand none of the boys from Catatonia ever played guitar in the sea, or dived across a table at a wedding just for the fuck of it, so G N' R win.

i listened to appetite for destruction a few days ago, and quite enjoyed it. the surprisingly melancholy opening to "my michelle" is a treat. it's an album i'd dip into every now and again.

catatonia were ok, i listened to "equally cursed and blessed" a few times and it was quite good: there was a powerful one with some nice harp and a big sweeping string section. forget the name. the singles off "international velvet" were cool too.

guns and roses shade it.

"All rubbish. You sad. You wrong. Me right."

With super-effeciency, Supercustos whips out his supersecret Bizarro Translator Device and translates the strange aliens rantings:
"It's all wonderful. It makes me happy. You're abosolutly right. I was wrong."

Dom Passantino, Friday, 11 January 2008 09:58 (eighteen years ago)

Didn't they cover that song Charles Manson wrote as a secret track on their album of covers?
