Wow, Returning from a Journey! What a great song. Specimen had a bit of a glam edge, too which I liked. No reason for goth to be ALL gloom and doom. That whole Batastrphe ep was great, although no one rates it.

Sean (Sean), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 01:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I will only list seven because I need more goth:

1. The Sisters of Mercy - "Temple of Love"
2. This Ascension - "August Rain"
3. Peter Murphy - "Cuts You Up"
4. Lycia - "Goddess of the Green Fields"
5. Joy Division - "Shadowplay"
6. The Sisters of Mercy - "Black Planet"
7. The Sisters of Mercy - "Marian"

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Tuesday, 20 January 2004 01:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Re: Specimen - "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" got a bit of play on KROQ over time, I gather. And Jon Klein ended up joining the Banshees for a few albums, so hey.

That's right. I didn't know that was him until I read that bio recently.

Baaderist (Fabfunk), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 13:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I know, that caused controversy even as I typed it... But I stand by it because it's agreat song and goths still ike it even if it isn't really goth.

swans -youre not real girl

Call Swans "gothic" to Michael Gira's face and you're bound to wake up in the emergency ward of St.Vincent's Hospital..

pj harvey-memphis

Call PJ Havey "gothic" to Polly's face, and you'll probably end up wearing her beer.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 15:13 (twenty-two years ago)

really? thanks for pointing that out !!!!!geez.
the same could be said for the cure, sister of mercy, ETC.

i could of made a same old predictable "gothic -safe" list, so back off. many bands on this thread are more industial or post punk.

memphis is goth as F8ck to me, and thats what matters

kephm, Wednesday, 21 January 2004 15:23 (twenty-two years ago)
