He's making a hip-hop record AND everything on his new label will be free to download? I'm really beginning to like this guy.Even if he is a Radiohead fan. :)

The prospect of the hip-hop album really excites me. That AGF/DLAY song on the the Electric Ladyland comp was incredible, I thought.

I feel like I was much more excited about "The Present Lover" than most people in 2003. It was one of my favorite albums of the year. There were many more daring projects, any number of places, but no-one get dance music better than him, as far as my body's concerned. And that kind of perfection soars above my 'new thing' favoritism.

I like his Luomo records (well the first one, I guess I'll pick up the new one when it finally gets a stateside release) but good lord does he sound like a yutz in that interview.

Anyone who has been paying attention to Ripatti’s exceedingly fertile, incessantly prolific career might not be so surprised by his hiatus, the latest oblique turn from a decidedly media-shy, reclusive personality.
After spending much of the early 2000s in electronic-music nerve centre Berlin, nearly a decade ago he moved to the remote agricultural island of Hailuoto, off the coast of Finland.
He eschews social-media channels and two years ago shut down his website. He no longer has a press pack, and when a journalist asks for a photo there is just one image he is willing to share for publication: a distant shot of the ambient auteur hooded, in the wilderness, taken by his wife, electronic musician and frequent collaborator Antye Greie-Ripatti.
