deep chord is one of my favorite labels right now. excellent stuff that scratches only one itch, but oh man does it scratch that itch well.

The Rod Modell 12" on Echocord is excellent.

Was that Rod Modell bio hacked from a TAGC bio about the Dogon and the Dogstar Sirius? Or Hafler Trio bio-acoustics? Same vein.

i love their stuff but some of their records are cut (manufactured) badly. i have a few i cant play out.

i just picked up the deepchord DC01-06 compilation. i've decided old deepchord might be the most derivative dance music ever. worse, in that regard, than even funkstorung. i remember when funkstorung started i thought "this music is interesting enough that there's room for someone other than autechre to be putting out these records". ok history may have proved me wrong on that. but since the maurizio team have completely retired from heroin house i'm quite happy to have deepchord around.

That would make Echocord the Polecats

DC-03 b side and DC-06 a side are practically cover tunes!

who knows, maybe they're actually sampling those M tracks. that'd be an interesting approach.

four years pass...

http://www.discogs.com/release/1430193
album of model 500 "starlight" remixes; mostly dope as fuck; more consistant than.. say.. any rhythm & sound album bar the first one (well, this is way more techno though ob)..
i recently got a rob modell cd "incese & blacklight" that is super badass as well.. like my favorite vladislav delay deeeeeep dubbbby ambient shit really well mixed and just ultra effervescent.. i thought the "deepest season" or whatever stuff sounded kinda undercooked and boring on cd, but these two full lengths are just deeeeeep as fuuuccckkk..... definitely seek these out

this thread is actually better and gets bumped more often. I agree that the Starlight remix album is good stuff.

twelve years pass...

Can't really get into it right now but I need to say Immersions might be my favorite ambient (techno) album. Up there with Pop.

one year passes...

Really feeling Functional Designs this morning, more than I expected to given that I haven't loved anything RM has done since The Coldest Season, but could just be that the weather is getting colder
