--If you have a "walkman" that will play cassettes, bring that along. During takeoff and landing, they don't let you use CD players, but I have never once had a flight attendant make me turn off my walkman during takeoff once I explain that it's just a cassette player. Takeoff and landing are, of course, the greatest times to listen to music--so to me it's worth it. You can always take out your CD player once you're "at cruising altitude."--Be sure to get a window seat.--I don't know if this is your taste, but my all-time faves for this experience are Loveless by MBV, Sound of Confusion by Spacemen 3, Nowhere by Ride, and Post-Partum by Les Innocents. Interpol is nice, too.--As for electronic stuff, I would maybe do Spacetime Continuum...something that doesn't have a really insistent "beat." That would make me too antsy.
