I'm thinking of investing some hard earned (haha) cash in Whatchamacallit. Anyone got any opinions on it/them?

I've seen them live....and they seem to be an extremely acquired taste. The live show was just Todd Trainer strumming an electric guitar and singing some creepy goth type vox....I have not heard the albums though. I have one friend that swears by them, though.

one year passes...
TEEH MOST UNDERRATED THREAD EVER!

I'm currently blasting the opening track of Tragedy - Tragedy, "Christ", right now. Grossly overlooked drone-dirge rock outlet for Shellac drummer Todd Trainer, with buddies.

TS: Eye For An Eye.. vs. Call It A Day vs. Tragedy - Tragedy vs. Whatchamacallit.

Also, you can't beat the Brick for consistent album covers.

I used to always see BLC records in those Touch & Go catalogues and wonder if they were any good, but never took a chance.

If you like simple slow Zeppish drum sounds, droney-distorted guitar sounds, and the sound of a guy growling something in a dark manner non-stop in the background, you'll like all of these releases.

I'd say if Earth today (just guitar and drums now) had someone more akin to Britt Walford or Todd Trainor on drums, this approximates Brick Layer Cake's sound.

I like all three records a lot, but after talking to Todd about "Whatchamacallit" and really listening to it, I am even more impressed. Plus, that has some his strongest songwriting. However, if you like any of the BLC records, you'll probably like them all.

Great, great, great live...
