marcello, some magazine asked me to do a lambchop interview - nothing big - just a big picture of them and 300 words underneath. they liked it and asked me to increase the word length. so i said yeah. finished it and then went on the website. YOU BASTARD! yer lambchop article is v. similar to mine - with the comparisons to OUTKAST'S NEW ONE. i'm going to have to REDO AND REWRITE NOW! and i was GOING TO GO OUT TO A PARTY TONIGHT.

HE'S JUST A RASCAL!!

DJ FAS Course, Friday, 23 January 2004 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey Doomie, it's not like every other critic in the country isn't going to compare Lambchop to Outkast purely on the basis of it being a double album.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 23 January 2004 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)

but the content was very similar - similar enough that i felt uncomfortable with submitting. and i'm so frickin' sick of thinking and listening to lambchop. i wanted to go out and abuse my body tonight.

doomified, Friday, 23 January 2004 12:44 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry for suckin' on the crack bandwidth pipe. i was horrified. and needed to lash out. ha ha. and when i am horrified and depressed i turn to ilx.

doomified, Friday, 23 January 2004 12:47 (twenty-two years ago)

You go out to abuse yrself?

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Friday, 23 January 2004 12:48 (twenty-two years ago)

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 23 January 2004 12:50 (twenty-two years ago)

maybe i can tell the editor that someone died or my grandma was put in care and had become distressed??? and then finish it sunday night??

doomified, Friday, 23 January 2004 12:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Pablo Cruise (chaki), Friday, 23 January 2004 12:52 (twenty-two years ago)

point well taken! i did say SORRY THOUGH!!

doomified, Friday, 23 January 2004 12:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Stable door, horse etc

If you essentially write to order like you said in that Bangs thread, does it really matter if it's similar?

DJ Mencap (DJ Mencap), Friday, 23 January 2004 13:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh sorry Doomie - but whatever else you come up with, you can only do better than Sylvie Simmons' ultra-lame L/chop review in Mojo; Peschek and I sat reading it with heads shaking slowly and sadly in unison, finally uttering the Greek chorus: "did she even listen to the f***ing records?"

If it's any consolation (which it won't be) I have to spend tonight thinking up 1000 original words to write about the Fleetwood Mac repackaged reissues (F Mac/Rumours/Tusk) with the emphasis on Tusk + edit down my Lindsey Buckingham interview, plus I need to write up downpagers on Amp Fiddler and the Necks and various ZTT reissues. It's my birthday on Sunday so I want to get it all out of the way by the time, oh, Newsnight Review comes on (some hope).

Phoebe Dinsmore, Friday, 23 January 2004 13:16 (twenty-two years ago)

*jealous* did'ya offer lindsay any cocaine? did'ya ask him about his hair and how great it was in the seventies? ha ha. i love lindsay. been stuck on the live version of 'landslide' just for the beginning intro of: 'this one is for you daddy'. ha ha. that and daniel.

doomified, Friday, 23 January 2004 13:30 (twenty-two years ago)

i used up the best part of 2 C90 tapes for the interview. mostly we talked about post punk and its influence on LB/Tusk/etc. "not that funny" is his pere ubu/suicide tribute "but everyone else in the fuckin' band was still listening to eric fuckin' clapton." nice guy...he actually reads CoM! (paul lester sent warners' head of press a link to my Mac pieces on CoM, and they were sent in turn to LB) talked about pluramon, neptunes etc...saw stevie n as well but she didn't say much, seemed to be off in her own unreachable world (no change there then).

Phoebe Dinsmore, Friday, 23 January 2004 13:38 (twenty-two years ago)

wow. so so cool. it would have been better if it was 1977, obviously. but still very cool.

i'm going on tour with the libertines, marcello! i'm hyped about that. with all their turmoil - perhaps a scruffed up mac?

when you saw stevie n was she doing the dance?

doomified, Friday, 23 January 2004 13:42 (twenty-two years ago)

did stevie have star power like courtney love? you know, when she is in a room, you KNOW she is in the room?

doomified, Friday, 23 January 2004 13:43 (twenty-two years ago)

ha ha. i'm so star struck by fleetwood mac. i love the interview with courtney love and stevie n - courtney goes on and on about how the golddust woman had this amazing imaginary powerful fembot feel to it and stevie goes ... 'oh, it was about cocaine ... but i'll have to check my journals'.

doomified, Friday, 23 January 2004 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)

i wanted to go out and abuse my body tonight.

A laudable aim but you can always just visit ILM and be abused by smart alecks*.

(*spelling?)

Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 23 January 2004 13:49 (twenty-two years ago)

'Alecs'.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Friday, 23 January 2004 13:49 (twenty-two years ago)

talked about pluramon

Words fail...so i'll just say: wow.

Omar (Omar), Friday, 23 January 2004 13:51 (twenty-two years ago)

'Alecs'.

Open to debate I would venture.

Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 23 January 2004 13:52 (twenty-two years ago)

(xpost to doomie re. stevie):

she did her dance onstage but backstage was a bit "lost in translation." i told her that "silver springs" had been restored to its rightful place halfway through the redux reissue of "rumours" and she said: "was that one of mine?" "er yes you threw various things at mick f for taking it off the album at the last minute and you quit the band last time because he wouldn't let you put it on your own greatest hits comp." "oh, did I? gee whiz..." she definitely had that aura about her, though; even when semi-comatose she's just got it - she walks in and you know that you are in the presence of a goddess...

Phoebe Dinsmore, Friday, 23 January 2004 13:52 (twenty-two years ago)

No, generally Alec isn't spelt with a 'k'. unless there's some deep-seated colloquial meaning to Aleck that I ain't familiar with, which is possible.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Friday, 23 January 2004 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm a deep-seated colloquial kinda guy

Dadaismus (Dada), Friday, 23 January 2004 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

wow. stevie is a goddess.

doomified, Friday, 23 January 2004 13:58 (twenty-two years ago)

It's spelt w/a 'k'.

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Friday, 23 January 2004 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

"silver springs" "was that one of mine?"
when she is in a room, you KNOW she is in the room?

You might, she woudn't be so sure. (after all that fuss re silver springs, heck..)

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 23 January 2004 14:02 (twenty-two years ago)

ha ha ha.

top mood. am reviewing the constantines on wednesday. my best friend used to room with bryan the singer. i've not seen the constantines for ages. in like two years. ha ha ha. hopefully he won't see me at the show and read the review and go 'wtf'. ha ha! cool!

doomified, Friday, 23 January 2004 14:02 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm so jealous of you, marcello. my life long dream is to get high with lindsay. 'IN YER FACE TO-DO LIST'

doomified, Friday, 23 January 2004 14:03 (twenty-two years ago)

the surface noise (electricsound), Friday, 23 January 2004 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

i love the stevie nicks dance where she flicks her gypsy skirt in one direction while her hips snap in another. stevie nicks circa 1975 = HOTT.

stevie (stevie), Friday, 23 January 2004 16:04 (twenty-two years ago)

haha thanks for the interview insights, Phoebe. does this mean we have definitely release dates in UK for those Rhino reissues now?
