So wrote Rennie Sparks on my copy of "Evil" earlier this evening. What's your favorite autograph from a musician? or perhaps piece of memorabilia? (I made away with that and the setlist for the Handsome Family show)

On my copy of the Handsome Family's Odessa some year's ago.

"I walked down the street and stepped in a poodle. Brett Sparks."

followed by

"Sorry my husband's jokes suck. Rennie Sparks."

I shook David Thomas' hand.

Wow, christhamrin. that's better than an autograph. My old band opened for Ubu, and one of the watchwords that we were given was "Mr. Thomas doesn't like to be touched".

Its not musical but Tony Blair once came to our school as part of the '97 election build-up. After a while he decided he was not giving any more autographs, and we'd all get a photocopy at the end of the day. I told him I'd vote for him "when I was old enough" (I was 10), if he gave me an autograph. And he did. I'm 17 now and it looks like he's going to need me to keep my word when the time comes.

Which is ironic on many levels.

i swear to all that is holy I have a kentucky fried chicken bucket with the following:
"Dear caspar thank you for not cutting into my scalp - Buckethead" scrawled on it. My god I was such a little nerd! Still, 3 stars for that early Praxis (POO = sacrifist!)

Jay Ferguson of Sloan drew me a picture of his shoes once. That was pretty cool.

Bootsy at Newark Airport one Saturday afternoon wrote for me on the back of a receipt: To J, Keep Funk Alive!!! (Star, Star)

I met Ringo on the street in Soho the day I was layed off from my hell job three years ago. Shook his hand and he was very nice. Then I almost hyperventilated as I walked away.

four years pass...

"H&M's the one for me!"

Written by Mark Webber from Pulp inside my copy of Different Class in Hamburg in 1995. The rest of the band signed it too - Candida wrote "hello Charlie from Angleterre" iirc - but Mark#s was cool because he wrote it after correctly guessing where I'd got my top (blatantly from the girls' section...).
