The Icarus Line - Penance Soiree

Is it right to *know* that you are listening to what will be the best album of the year, in January?

Absolute fucking genius... Altamont-era Rolling Stones meets Sabbath sludge, Spacemen 3 space-rock, Stooges snot, glam crunch, Black Flag evil...

You can disagree, but you'll be wrong. And the 1-2-3 punch of 'kiss like lizards' - 'getting bright at night' - 'big sleep' is just absolute killer.

Finally!

Jon Williams (ex machina), Sunday, 25 January 2004 21:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Absolute fucking genius...

If it doesn't live up to those descriptions I myself will write a column about DELUDED EDITORS.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 25 January 2004 21:51 (twenty-two years ago)

The first album was pretty siiiiiiiick too. Except I'm not too sure how I felt about the part where the dude whispers "it gets better than this I swear".

latebloomer (latebloomer), Sunday, 25 January 2004 22:19 (twenty-two years ago)

A Short History of The Icarus Line:

Mono: "Hey guys, check out this cool new thing I found! It's called 'The Jesus Lizard'!"
Penance Soiree: "Hey guys, check out this cool new thing I found! It's called 'heroin'!"

Nick Mirov (nick), Monday, 26 January 2004 01:14 (twenty-two years ago)

more bands should make those discoveries.

Willie Gibson, Tuesday, 9 March 2004 14:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Pablo Cruise (chaki), Tuesday, 9 March 2004 19:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Besides the tracks on "Three Jesus Songs" (Up Against the Wall Motherucker, Meat Maker, Kiss Like Lizards) I still ain't heard this damn thing. But you can, or at least previously could, find the tracklist at this site:

http://www.geocities.com/separatethesounds

but it's down for me at the moment.

Simon H., Wednesday, 10 March 2004 00:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm pretty taken with it. The sort of boogie-rock 'number' about halfway in is inexcusable dreck however

DJ Mencap (DJ Mencap), Wednesday, 10 March 2004 11:06 (twenty-two years ago)

They have 6 tracks for yr perusal here: http://www.buddyhead.com/gossip/

Just scroll down a little.

Apparently the tracks are all over the internet already or something.
