ex. Thread: TS: Megadeth Vs. Slayer
Geir: Obviously neither, because neither have any melodic value. :-)
Thread: I just paid $55 dollars for No New York - did I get ripped off?
Geir: Even one dollar is too much for that overrated curio of non-melodic racket. The new Travis song is great.
Thread: At what point did DJ Premier lose his "mojo"?
Geir: The Beatles were the greatest band off all time, because they used very poignant melodies and complex compositional techniques.

Why the double standard?
I understand some people under 25 are still growing, so they buy clothes because they can't fit in them anymore, or there are cultural standards which dictate what one wears in school, at work, etc. for some (and I stress "some") so obviously choices of clothes are going to be dictated by age more than music, which doesn't rely on physical or financial factors as much as clothes/fashion.
But if a 50-year-old wants to twee herself out grrrrly style, why not? I see 40-year-old dudes dress in those buttless humongo jeans and sideways baseball hats pretty often (at least in Seattle). I don't see a huge difference between the standard as being applied to both clothes or music, that's all...

Maybe because listening to music is usually relegated to the privacy of one's home (or one's headphones), and essentially, music is for everyone. Whereas a individual on the north side of, say, fifty-five wearing a thong is just WRONG!

Supposedly various Sunbelt retirement magnet cities have been hit with a wave of retiree-age couples having sex in public. On the one hand I definitely don't want to see such acts in progress. On the other hand I'm glad that precendents are being set for golden-years sex.
