You And I

"i" is the name of the new Magnetic Fields album, out in May. All 14 of the tracks will begin with the word "I".

Are you looking forward to it? Do you think it'll be good? 69 Love Songs seems an aeon away to me - I half expected there not to be another album and I'm not sure what I think now.

I was pretty dissappointed with a couple of the new tracks on the "Pieces of April" soundtrack. Namely "Stray with Me" and "Dreams Anymore", but I liked "All I want to know". I really don't know what to expect from "i", but I have a feeling it will be a bit dissapointing. After all, could there be a better album than "69 love songs?

as somebody who got into the magnetic fields (a) a few years after 69LS & (b) through a really random hodgepodge of mp3s . . . I'm glad there'll be a new assortment of tracks. having said that, I've really enjoyed the charm of the highway strip as an album, so . . .

i don't think it'd be that hard for him to top 69LS - i don't actually think it was his strongest collection of songs. give me "highway strip" or the first two albums over it anyday.

the surface noise (electricsound), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 01:59 (twenty-two years ago)

so to what degree/etc will this be an "event" - with the whole blowing-up-of-Merritt with 69LS & the delay with the followup & all the soundtracks & Future Bible Heroes stuff &c &c &c - after something made as um horizonlike as that . . . how much scrutiny will there be? is there any chance, of, say, a single getting onto the UK charts? is there a backlash gestating?

etc, Tuesday, 27 January 2004 02:05 (twenty-two years ago)

there was already a backlash, mostly against the lavish praising of 69 love songs as that record was elevated well above it's proper position by people who had seemingly never heard a pop song before. he's brighter than most of the people who will review him, it should be funny to see them fail when trying to take him down a notch. arnaud fleurent-didier has taken over the world, anyhow, who cares.

so is this titling pattern, like, a blatant tribute to A.R. Kane? or purely subconscious (naughty imps!)

Paul (scifisoul), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 03:09 (twenty-two years ago)

If only all the songs sound like A.R. Kane.

Thank you Jed.

This has already been done by several Miami booty bass artists.. except all the songs begin with "B".

(care to guess what words those are?)

Braise.

I wish all these 90s indie heroes would just f'ing go away. If the past few "side project" releases are any indication, this new album will be just as lousy though no doubt full of witty metaphors and haha stuff that'll have people continue to say he's some sort of songwriting wizard. Maybe he was at some point or another, but c'mon.. let's get over this already.

not sure what i think either. i have listened to the magnetic fields in the last 2 years, but not all that much; they were my favourite band for the first six months of 2001 (probably the last time (ever?) i had a favourite band), and in many ways i don't need to hear the records any more because i heard them so many times then. i've also been underwhelmed by the stuff since then (pieces of april, charly and ebon or whatever it's called, the 2nd future bible heroes album's ok but it's not like i listen to it).

on the other hand i like the idea of another concept album. he could pull it off again.

Do you think this is a trend we'll see more of? iPod friendly song titles. All nicely indexed for you.

garret (garret), Tuesday, 27 January 2004 12:33 (twenty-two years ago)

iPods only have a gazillion ways for you to browse the database of songs on it.. provided one actually fills in the ID3 tags of the Mp3s you put on it. I understand it's a lot of work, but it REALLY pays off. (Not talking about the "Genre" or "Composer" field or crap like that.. just the basic "Title/Artist/Album" fields. at least for us feeble minded "popular music" fans)

one month passes...
on first listen i hated it; halfway through the 2nd listen i'm liking it a lot more. i wish they'd make another synthpop album, though.

I don't suppose someone would like to make me a cdr of this, would they? I'll sort you out something in return, promise.

six years pass...

"You and I" is the name of the new tAtU film, starring Mischa Barton...

Positively estimate it fans tatu can only, but to all of them is equal if only to see once again favorite singers.
