Whatever happened to Carl Stephenson?

I think the Forest for Trees album is a classic. But it seems like Carl Stephenson was teetering on the edge of Brian Wilson cuckoodom. Anybody know what happened to him? Is he in bed somewhere?

Here's an interview/article I saved from from the Dallas Observer back in January, 1998.

Dreamworks had given the follow-up a release date and included the single, "Jellyfish," on a comp in 2001. But the second album was never released.

Does anybody know anything about what he's up to? Does anybody (besides me) care? The dude co-wrote Beck's "Loser" for crying out loud (for better or worse)...

one year passes...
I corresponded with Carl's wife and also a Dreamworks representative concerning his mental health issues way back when the album was released. They were uniformily defensive and unhelpful, but it's also possible that I was merely very confrontational - I felt it was unethical that his wife had released the album without Carl's consent, and kind of still feel that she overstepped the bounds of privilege concerning her ability to control his art while he was committed to hospital.

Last I heard, he was "getting better" and would be "touring soon". Huh.

I may write Dreamworks again soon about this, as my concern is piqued again.

Hope this helped.
