Memories, like the smiles we left behind!

i don't ever remember being blown away by "carry that weight." i do remember listening to CBS play a shitload of beatles songs on labor day 1984 and being amazed.

Did people really freak out about that?

How exactly did that happen any way? All I know is he was filming a Pepsi commercial and then his hair was on fire.

Aja (aja), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 03:01 (twenty-two years ago)

i think that they had some fireworks go off when they were shooting the commercial, jacko was standing very close to said fireworks and his hair was full of eighties-type hair-goop, and then POOF

i also remember some really tasteless (and prob. racist) jokes about this incident (also involving richard pryor, who also lit himself on fire not that long before the jacko pepsi commercial).

i also remember running around quakerbridge mall that xmas, trying to get my sister one of those wham!/fgth-stylee t-shirts.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 03:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Did he have hairspray in his hair?

Aja (aja), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 03:06 (twenty-two years ago)

i think so, but i'm not 100% sure.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 03:07 (twenty-two years ago)

It was that Jerri-curl stuff, I think.

nickn (nickn), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 03:10 (twenty-two years ago)

i think so, but i'm not 100% sure.

Maybe. That stuff is flammible, right? But so is your hair naturally.

Aja (aja), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 03:12 (twenty-two years ago)

that's true. but i think that nick is correct ... he probably had some jerri-curl goo in his hair at that time.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 03:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Did he have to put that crap in his hair?

Aja (aja), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 03:16 (twenty-two years ago)

For what's it's worth, last week marked the 20th anniversary of Hulkamania ... imagine that? Hulk Hogan and freaky-deaky Michael born the same week.

I'm listening to Thriller right now and I'm only getting a visceral reaction to "Billie Jean." The rest, even "Wanna Be Startin' Something," is just earwash to me.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 03:20 (twenty-two years ago)

One of my friends, I guess she really likes that album. Well, she brought it to school one day. One of those short days where we kind of just had a class party. Well anyway, she played "Billy Jean" over and over. She was also dancing to it the whole time. We bagged her to put on another song!

Aja (aja), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 03:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Did he have to put that crap in his hair?

If you were an African-American popstar, yes.

nickn (nickn), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 03:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha!

But why?

Oh, right! He had to live up to his image.

Aja (aja), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 04:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Pepsi-Cola burnt him up
Now he's drinking 7-up

nate detritus (natedetritus), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 04:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Aja (aja), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 04:12 (twenty-two years ago)

jim wentworth (wench), Wednesday, 28 January 2004 04:23 (twenty-two years ago)
