I've got the 8 minute special on right now. Classic.

Chris V (Chris V), Thursday, 29 January 2004 18:32 (twenty-two years ago)

SO. CLASSIC.

And what's even more classic is Rebirth Brass Band's version on Hot Venom, which takes an already great tune and elevates it into even more of a jam.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 29 January 2004 18:36 (twenty-two years ago)

You mean:

"I ain't much your Casanova
Me and Romeo ain't never been friends"?

Or something like that?

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 29 January 2004 18:37 (twenty-two years ago)

you got it Gerald.

Chris V (Chris V), Thursday, 29 January 2004 18:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Seriously, if you like the tune you have to check out Rebirth's version. There is a live version here. I'm at work and I can't remember which track it is, but I think it's one of the first couple.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 29 January 2004 18:42 (twenty-two years ago)

this is now going on everyone of my mix tapes. Thanks Jordan.

Chris V (Chris V), Thursday, 29 January 2004 18:51 (twenty-two years ago)

"can't you see how much i wanna fuck ya....take your mother fucking drawers off and touch your toes!"

Brilliance.

Chris V (Chris V), Thursday, 29 January 2004 18:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Glad you like it. I've been at block parties in New Orleans where a band is playing and a hundred people are singing this. :>

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 29 January 2004 18:57 (twenty-two years ago)

(and weddings!)

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 29 January 2004 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

fantastic. i've sent it to my old r&b lovin buddies. Awaiting responses.

Chris V (Chris V), Thursday, 29 January 2004 19:00 (twenty-two years ago)

did i just hear "let me tell you where the sausage goes!"

Chris V (Chris V), Thursday, 29 January 2004 19:10 (twenty-two years ago)

My god, I remember this song very well (great chorus!) but I most specifically do not remember this porn-king version. Which is very Chris V, yes.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 29 January 2004 19:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll send you a brass band mix if you want, Ned. :>

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 29 January 2004 19:31 (twenty-two years ago)

You and your BRASSY SLEAZE. It's all clear now.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 29 January 2004 19:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Jordan secretly only plays muted trumpet for strip scenes in 1950's B/W B-movies.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 29 January 2004 19:37 (twenty-two years ago)

It'll include the tune w/Cheeky Blakk from the same record where they turn the Macarena into 'Pop That Pussy' (it's dance, okay?).

Xpost, mutes are for suckers, only the straight-up nasty brass band jams for me.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 29 January 2004 19:38 (twenty-two years ago)

You and your BRASSY SLEAZE. It's all clear now.

Hey, I've always been upfront about my brass sleaze. :> This ain't 'Oh When the Saints', bitch!!

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 29 January 2004 19:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I demand that your next performance involves you, grease and studded jockstraps. Take it to the limit or DON'T TALK.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 29 January 2004 19:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Come to the Mardi Gras FAP and we'll talk. :>

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 29 January 2004 19:43 (twenty-two years ago)

So yeah, um, Levert.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 29 January 2004 19:43 (twenty-two years ago)

big ol' classic

M Matos (M Matos), Thursday, 29 January 2004 19:44 (twenty-two years ago)

one of the things that keeps me here is bonding over records i love and all my friends have never heard of and would hate anyway.

classic.

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 29 January 2004 21:13 (twenty-two years ago)

We HAVE had the Oran "Juice" Jones thread, I hope and trust? I seem to recall we did.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 29 January 2004 21:43 (twenty-two years ago)

casanova > the rain though...

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 29 January 2004 21:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Mm, I wouldn't go that far, they're both equally grand in different ways.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 29 January 2004 22:14 (twenty-two years ago)

hazy nostalgia on my part really.

mullygrubber (gaz), Thursday, 29 January 2004 22:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Now that's sad. :-(

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 10 November 2006 20:51 (nineteen years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 10 November 2006 20:59 (nineteen years ago)

bo janglin (dubplatestyle), Friday, 10 November 2006 21:01 (nineteen years ago)

That's awful.

The Android Cat (Dan Perry), Friday, 10 November 2006 21:24 (nineteen years ago)

wait, was he in the middle of shooting this weight-loss reality show when he died?

something less threatening (heywood), Friday, 10 November 2006 21:52 (nineteen years ago)

Yes, that's mentioned in the (apparently not working) link.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 10 November 2006 21:54 (nineteen years ago)
