I am at 58% and I am sooooo geeked. I havent been this excited about hearing a record since I rode my bike two miles to the reäbzÆ store after school to buy In Utero the day it came out.

When I think about it I definitely cared a lot more about music when I was younger. I would not think twice about riding my for miles to buy a cd at the store; nowadays I can hardly be bothered to take the time to download music.

Tonio14 is on my permanent shit list. That guy just logged off in the middle of my download. I am going to find out where he lives and burn his house down.

so actually, this is the thread hwere I get dumped from the slsk server and have to wait. Perhaps music is better when you cannot have it when you want it.

Former Supposed So Called Nihilist Teenage Drug Disco Addiction Counselor (mjt), Thursday, 29 January 2004 23:44 (twenty-two years ago)

i can tell you what i think of it. but you might not want to know. well, that's not true. it's not bad. but i'm not a lifelong fan. in fact, forget i said anything. enjoy!

cs appleby (cs appleby), Friday, 30 January 2004 20:36 (twenty-two years ago)

A song by DNA.

dlp9001, Friday, 30 January 2004 20:42 (twenty-two years ago)

the first song sounds like left banke! (not the singing though.) the first minute of the third one starts like it could have come off of the virgin suicides s/t! that's all i've heard so far. album of the year, easy!

dan (dan), Friday, 30 January 2004 20:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I've only heard three tracks (from various places on the interweb) and am a bit underwhelmed. They seem to lack some punchiness.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 30 January 2004 21:22 (twenty-two years ago)

This album is good and 100% Projekt records. I'm thrilled. More bands need to make that shift.

adam (adam), Friday, 30 January 2004 22:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I am listening to track one as we speak! I am not exactly sure how I feel about it, definitely not as immediate as Damaged Lemons.

Former Supposed So Called Nihilist Teenage Drug Disco Addiction Counselor (mjt), Saturday, 31 January 2004 01:49 (twenty-two years ago)

just started track 2 and the intro sounds like Mr. De from Electrofunk records!

track two packs way more heat than track one.

The drumming on this record is tight so far. Still not sure how I feel about the string parts filling in all the spaces. I am already starting to think that perhaps this record would have been better served if the arrangements were more sparse.

What are they reacting against? Why did they make these decisions?

Former Supposed So Called Nihilist Teenage Drug Disco Addiction Counselor (mjt), Saturday, 31 January 2004 01:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh my fuck! Track three is chock full of smooth creamy goodness. It is almost dream poppy in a way. Is this a prediction that My Bloody Valentine will be the hip rock revival genre of 2006?

the break down at the end of this song is sooooooooo good. At three minutes this track goes into shoegaze territory. Will I regret writing that this is what Souvlaki sound have sounded like?

Former Supposed So Called Nihilist Teenage Drug Disco Addiction Counselor (mjt), Saturday, 31 January 2004 01:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not sure if I am feeling track four, need to give it more time. I skipped through this one, it just isnt grabbing my attention.

Former Supposed So Called Nihilist Teenage Drug Disco Addiction Counselor (mjt), Saturday, 31 January 2004 02:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't feel my toes.

Former Supposed So Called Nihilist Teenage Drug Disco Addiction Counselor (mjt), Saturday, 31 January 2004 02:00 (twenty-two years ago)

track six is all about the woodblocks baby. The break at 55 seconds is mindblowing. For whatever reason I am thinking about windchimes by The Beach Boys from Smiley Smile. It isn't the wind sounds in the background, the song just suggests such a weird physical space. Got to love the scratchy violin noises too.

Former Supposed So Called Nihilist Teenage Drug Disco Addiction Counselor (mjt), Saturday, 31 January 2004 02:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't decide on track seven, either. I don't know if it is the chorus/hook that isn't doing the trick for me, or what, but I am not feeling it right off the bat. The song for the first 16 bars, but the chorus is iffy. The break at 2 minutes is fantastic as well, I give them credit for this record, it is their most sonically advanced to date. By this point in time I am almost wishing that they had spent more time exploring those weird noises and less time on their chops driven songcraft. I would like to have seen them strip this album down further and just let the great production values shine through.
I suppose I am just waiting for their Pygmalion.

I dont know what I am drawing such strong parallels with Slowdive on this album. In the past I never would have draw the comparision, and even then I might be utterly wrong.

(the song is genius for the first 16 bars...)
