I've not heard this band but a friend reckons it will be crack-eyed psyche and not will I go - his email was worded - you must go and marked it high priority.

What should I expect?

And will they sell any 7s?

*gurgles* I DID NOT KNOW THIS WAS OUT. (I am something of a Bower fanatic and have the earlier Hototogisu stuffage.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 1 February 2004 16:04 (twenty-two years ago)

go here, ned. aquarius also claims to have it, but you're going to wind up paying an extra 4 bucks for shipping.

the first hototogisu cdr is top of the 'freenoise' heap as far as i'm concerned.

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Monday, 2 February 2004 00:14 (twenty-two years ago)

*bump*

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 6 February 2004 13:24 (twenty-two years ago)

marcg (marcg), Friday, 6 February 2004 13:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Fuck! This is tonight! In my English way, I thought it was in June. Oops. I'll see if I can get someone to cover me at work, Sunroof won't be on before 8.30-ish surely?

udu wudu (udu wudu), Friday, 6 February 2004 13:34 (twenty-two years ago)

tried making a phonecall but the ans machine was all i got. try again later.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 6 February 2004 13:36 (twenty-two years ago)

nebbesh (nebbesh), Friday, 6 February 2004 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

what do you people look like?

i will be wearing a black EMS rainjacket and have black frame glasses (hmm, does that describe eveyone at the show?). come up and introduce if you attend.

marcg (marcg), Friday, 6 February 2004 15:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a beard (does that describe everyone? ;)), will have a grey jacket and black 'puma' bag.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 6 February 2004 15:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Got back from the gig. nice to meet marc.

Sunroof! was just matthew bower turning the on switch, letting a storm of noisz through, and then soloing with his back turned to the audience for 15 mins. the moment he finished someone, in a 'superchunk' t-shirt (anyone know what thye sound like?) shouted 'you self indulgent wanker' and that was the set.

when the guy was asked by someone why he did it i just overheard him say something like 'had to say what i thought, its punk rock innit'.

Double leopards were absolutely fantastic, they know all abt electricity, every action amplified, drones sustained so everybody's a winner. got a CDR at the end. come back soon, start earlier and play longer thanx!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 7 February 2004 01:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I like DL, of course, but I really miss the vocals of Un - am I alone here?

roger adultery (roger adultery), Saturday, 7 February 2004 18:21 (twenty-two years ago)

enjoyed the gig too. sunroof! sounded a lot like a stripped down version of the youngsbower cd. then again i thought it was going to be some laptop-type thing. DL were very good and engaging...

roger--can you explain the Un connection? tara burke used to be in Un, right? so are there DL philly roots?

marcg (marcg), Saturday, 7 February 2004 18:44 (twenty-two years ago)

actually, both Chris and Marcia were the main Un members, from what I've gathered. That Siltbreeze LP is one of the most underrated records of the early nineties drone/free/weirdo rock scene and probably my favorite Siltbreeze release.

Interestingly, when Un broke up, I was in touch with Marcia for a while, and planned to put out a Double Leopards tape on Polyamory, but due to a small crisis involving graduating from college / moving, that (and one other release) never materialized. I really wish it had, but I still have a tape of demos they gave me.

I don't know if Tara ever recorded with them, I'm pretty sure she joined after they recorded the LP and 7"...

roger adultery (roger adultery), Saturday, 7 February 2004 23:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I've met Un? I seem to recall them and Harry Pussy playing a show at KUCI together and then we all went out for vegetarian Vietnamese. Donut Bitch, help me out here.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 7 February 2004 23:46 (twenty-two years ago)

WTF!?!? When is this/was this? Shit!

NickB (NickB), Saturday, 7 February 2004 23:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah okay, it's tomorrow. With Dylan Nyoukis. I'll be there.

NickB (NickB), Saturday, 7 February 2004 23:57 (twenty-two years ago)

ah shit! Tell Dylan we Noo Yawkers are psyched to see his azz in March!

roger adultery (roger adultery), Sunday, 8 February 2004 00:08 (twenty-two years ago)

That Un record was great. I didn't realize Chris was in Un too..

Double Leopards will be playing a free outdoor concert at the East River Park amphitheatre in NYC in June.
