Tracer Hand likes her. I liked her at first but got bored.

Can anyone tell me about Khia?

Tom, Wednesday, 3 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 3 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 3 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Gosh. I think I might go and see her live next week.

Daniel, Wednesday, 3 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

If you go to Halifax next week you can see her with Chicks on Speed.

Halifax Pop Explosion link

Halifax is a bit off the beaten track I'm afraid. I'm based in London.

ambrose, Wednesday, 3 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Mr Noodles, Thursday, 4 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

one year passes...
peaches new album FATHERFUCKER drops sept 23, supposed to be a big step forward if that's possible!

peachlover@fuck.away, Monday, 11 August 2003 17:21 (twenty years ago) link

easily one of my least favorite musical artists of recent years. You can't dance to it, you can't hum it, you can't masturbate to it, it isn't funny, WHAT THE FUCK IS IT FOR?

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 11 August 2003 17:27 (twenty years ago) link

WHAT THE FUCK IS IT FOR? fucking

nick.K (nick.K), Monday, 11 August 2003 17:37 (twenty years ago) link

I totally couldn't fuck to Peaches. The beats are lame, monotonous her voice is unerotic and her lyrics are incoherent in the most pathetic and unshocking way imaginable. I'd need to own every Donna Summer, fuck it every SYLVESTER album, every IRENE CARA album, every BLOWFLY album before I'd consider buying a Peaches album.

Unless her new one is good.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 11 August 2003 17:41 (twenty years ago) link

i liked her at first - the teaches of peaches was a big blast of stale, skanky air when it came out, but after electroclash etc i'm really not feeling her at all. nice woman (well, in a manner of speaking) but not my cuppa at all now... all a matter of context...

Anthony, I can't say I agree. I found it funny when she said "There's only one Peach with the hole in the middle".

As for the first and the third of your excellent criteria, I have seen both - though not at the same venue, fortunately. You could not step on the floor in Sydney two years ago without hearing one Peaches track after another. It got to the point where I am sure the DJs thought nothing else was working, so they played only Peaches and one or two Miss Kittin tracks all night long. This is sleazy club music, which works best in a dirty kinky environment populated by freaks. Yeeeaaah!!!!

When she toured Sydney it was with Cobra Killer, two extremely debauched German women. On stage they worked off each other well. They had the props and the silly ideas, she had the voice and the songs. Imagine a world without Peaches. See? Exactly.

May I leave you with some Peaches?

Rock show!
You came to see a rock show!
This ain't no f***ing talk show!

Now that's rockist audacity.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Monday, 11 August 2003 20:22 (twenty years ago) link

There are only like 2 bad songs on the album, 3 tops. I like it MORE now, actually.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 11 August 2003 20:26 (twenty years ago) link

Everyone should download Peaches - Rosa Helikopter.

man, Tuesday, 12 August 2003 00:44 (twenty years ago) link

colin: i prefer cobra killer...or anneka trost at least.

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 00:56 (twenty years ago) link

To look at, or to listen to, Gaz?

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 00:57 (twenty years ago) link

on an aesthetic level i appreciate Peaches as much as i appreciate Tad

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 00:58 (twenty years ago) link

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 00:59 (twenty years ago) link

to listen to colin! sheez!

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 01:11 (twenty years ago) link

Now you're just twicking me.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 01:19 (twenty years ago) link

eh? douchebag! douchebag! you are just a douchebag! i love that song. ask anyone.

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 01:25 (twenty years ago) link

Well I liked it when they poured red wine on their heads then marched around proudly with big flags. If that isn't rockist audacity, I'm a sad little man with very little under the belt.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 01:27 (twenty years ago) link

peachlover@fuck.away = Mark? Phil?

Either way if its not them its street team, but oh well.

Being from TO, best keep my mouth shut.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 12:38 (twenty years ago) link

i like her production more than her lyrics/singing.
i like that she's wayyy sexual, even tho she's not very conventionally pretty. (sorry, but it's true.)

praying mantis (praying mantis), Tuesday, 12 August 2003 13:35 (twenty years ago) link

Millions of peaches. Peaches for free. LOOK OUT!!

Thanks Lewis!

s1utsky (slutsky), Sunday, 31 August 2003 07:03 (twenty years ago) link

that cover is indeed pretty awesome, I can't stop staring at it for some reason, the Teen Wolf/Lincoln combo is strangely entrancing

s1utsky (slutsky), Sunday, 31 August 2003 07:04 (twenty years ago) link

She looks like Lou Reed. Which is surely a good thing.

Add the Def Leppard font and my my.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 31 August 2003 13:26 (twenty years ago) link

Btw. if you guys had actually heard "Rosa Helikopter" by Peaches I doubt you'd have that much positive to say about them. :-)

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Sunday, 31 August 2003 15:03 (twenty years ago) link

I can't believe how angry Peaches makes me sometimes.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 31 August 2003 15:18 (twenty years ago) link

Btw. Just a description of "Rosa Helikopter". Imagine Aqua replacing Lene with a Swedish 11 year old girl and then releasing a song about a pink helicopter

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Sunday, 31 August 2003 16:56 (twenty years ago) link

This is a bad thing?

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Sunday, 31 August 2003 22:57 (twenty years ago) link

I've now listened to the album and it's very good. She's still got her unique "flow" and the sound is more varied yet at the same time from the exact same place. Also, the duet with Iggy is the best thing I've heard him do since Death in Vegas' "Aisha".

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Sunday, 31 August 2003 23:39 (twenty years ago) link

peaches is so sexless. how could anyone find it erotic/sexy? its not even dirty. its like having my old english teacher pulling down her pants and shouting 'fuck me'. what, am i meant to be turned on?

ambrose (ambrose), Monday, 1 September 2003 13:34 (twenty years ago) link

never trust women with beards

stevem (blueski), Monday, 1 September 2003 13:43 (twenty years ago) link

The album sucks as bad as the album cover

Michael B, Monday, 1 September 2003 14:17 (twenty years ago) link

I could totally deal with a person just yelling "Fuck me" over and over. My problem is that her lyrics seem to be like a Burroughsian cut-up of porn phrases removed of any actual statement and repeated endlessly. I hesitate to call them lyrics cuz it's usually like three slogans. It's superficial and "abstract." All I know about Peaches is that her songs are endless and she's not afraid to say naughty things (which might be shocking if rap hadn't softened the blow; seriously where's the props for Roxanne Shante? She wasn't afraid to say where she was coming from!).

That one video arguably made a shocking statement by having her bikini waxing disappear. I guess some people might be shocked by hair on a woman. I guess.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 1 September 2003 15:17 (twenty years ago) link

"Like Blondie/Check out my Chrissy Be-Hynde/It's fine all of the time" is one of my favorite lines ever.

Trish! (Arthur), Monday, 1 September 2003 18:08 (twenty years ago) link

...or "I.U.D. / S.I.S. / Stay in school / 'cos it's the best."

She's doing it for the kids, yo.

Next Peaches single: "Books...Check 'Em Out!" (or "The Cigarette Mash")
