I want a new Fender Strat (American). I also need a new amp. So....

How much, based on past experiences/stories, can people generally weasle off? I'm also left-handed, so perhaps that helps? I don't know.

It's all sort of based on whether or not you have any sort of affinity for bargaining/arguing and whether or whether or not the shop you are going to entertains that sort of thing, doesn't it?

are you buying it new from a store? if you're paying cash, feel free to knock off 20% straight away without worry. secondhand is a different matter..

surface noise, yeah I'm buying it new. Most of the local retailers are selling a new American Lefty Strat for about 1200 Canadian (I'm in Toronto). If I can get 20% off with a cash purchase, that'd be great.
