He has excellent taste in compressors.

Haha cinniblount

Andy K (Andy K), Saturday, 28 February 2004 13:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh dear God!

Who is that other person?

Thanks Alex.

You really don't have to do thing like that for me.

Although, it is good practice for doing things like that for your soon to be child.

Aja (aja), Saturday, 28 February 2004 16:00 (twenty-two years ago)

That's Andy Gill, guitarist of Gang of Four and producer of Killing Joke 2003. And, though you'd never know it from his shirtless torso, a GOD.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 28 February 2004 20:30 (twenty-two years ago)

And suddenly Andy Gill is no longer my guitar god.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 28 February 2004 20:32 (twenty-two years ago)

i didn't know that he ever WAS ... how is he possibly buttrock enough for you, anthony?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Saturday, 28 February 2004 20:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm all about treblicious caustic guitar action and the riffs on Entertainment are RAZOR sharp, but I keep forgetting that men have nipples and I didn't need Andy Gill to remind me.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 28 February 2004 20:34 (twenty-two years ago)

hell, I forget I have 'em!

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 28 February 2004 20:34 (twenty-two years ago)

This picture gives me megraine

Andy K (Andy K), Saturday, 28 February 2004 20:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Hahahaha

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 28 February 2004 20:40 (twenty-two years ago)

He has rather disquietingly pink nipples.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 28 February 2004 20:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Blount's picture response says it all.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 28 February 2004 21:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Dayglo Nipples.

A new band name!

latebloomer (latebloomer), Saturday, 28 February 2004 23:11 (twenty-two years ago)

When's the next R Kelly/R Polanksi droppin'?

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 28 February 2004 23:27 (twenty-two years ago)

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 28 February 2004 23:36 (twenty-two years ago)

(drum fill)

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 28 February 2004 23:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I have to hurt you now.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 29 February 2004 00:14 (twenty-two years ago)

What we're forgetting, is that while GoF had some of the best material ever, they also had some of the shittiest - 'Is It Love' anyone? Someone I know on a mailing list used to work with someone from GoF (maybe it was Gill), and said that he listened explicitly to shitty pop music.

Sasha (sgh), Sunday, 29 February 2004 03:03 (twenty-two years ago)

My head's totally exploding right now.

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Sunday, 29 February 2004 04:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I like "Is It Love" and boy's nipples.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Sunday, 29 February 2004 04:51 (twenty-two years ago)

william (william), Sunday, 29 February 2004 04:57 (twenty-two years ago)

@echo off, dammit!

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Sunday, 29 February 2004 04:57 (twenty-two years ago)

David Grohl was still best as the narrator telling a story about his ex-bandmate in the Melvins/Buzzo song "Skeeter"

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 29 February 2004 04:59 (twenty-two years ago)

David Grohl was still best as the narrator telling a story about his ex-bandmate in the Melvins/Buzzo song "Skeeter"

"Skeeter"?

You must be talking about "Just Another Story About Skeeter Thompson." Skeeter was the bass player of the band Scream.

My dad mistaken him for the bass player from the Dead Kennedys once. He went up to Skeeter and said, "Great show last night."

Skeeter said, "We didn't play last night." And I guess eventually my dad found out it wasn't the guy from the Dead Kennedys.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 29 February 2004 15:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, that Skeeter. What is "Just Another Story About Skeeter Thompson"?

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 29 February 2004 18:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Yep.

funny song.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 29 February 2004 18:24 (twenty-two years ago)

The lyrics.

so we were in Amsterdam
and we were staying at this guy
Toss's house
good friend of ours
uhh
its kinda in the middle of the city
we were just finished with our
second European tour
and everything was going pretty good
Skeeter, he met this girl that lived
next door to Toss's
and within a couple of weeks he started
living with her, you know?
and i guess she had a lot of money or something
cause she was constantly buying him clothes
and getting him lots of stuff and loading him
with money, you know?
He was constantly going to the coffee shop
always getting the best herb and the best
hash, you know?
he was in good shape
she was really good looking, she was
really cool
i, i don't think he'd ever met her before
but she had, you know, other boyfriends i suppose
so i'm sitting on the couch, you know, in
Toss's apartment
and im reading, you know, maximum rock and
roll or flip side
one of those punk things
and i heard Skeeter come in
and he came in and he had all these really
nice clothes on
she bought him all this stuff
she like bought him cologne
he was really really smelling good, you know
he looked good too
you know he came in and put his herb
on the table and, whatever
i'm just reading my little punk magazine
not really paying attention
and then he says, uh, he says hey dave
and i look up
and he's standing there with his dick
in his hand
and he's kinda got it like lifted up so
he's looking at the head of his dick
he kinda pointed it at me
i didnt know what to think
he said does that look like pus to you
i said no i think its lint

what a story!

Aja (aja), Sunday, 29 February 2004 18:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Delighted to see Andy Gill still smokes - I wish he still played guitar

Dadaismus (Dada), Sunday, 29 February 2004 18:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, those are the exact lyrics to the Buzzo song "Skeeter" too.. I meant to ask.. are you referring to an actual Dave Grohl spoken word release which includes a track called "Just Another Story About Skeeter Thompson"? Is this just a tape that's been going around? I'm curious about the source of the actual title of the story.

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 29 February 2004 18:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Why are you delighted to see he still smokes?

Smoking Kills Man.

Uhh, it's just not good to smoke.

It also means he smells like smoke. And his clothes too. Oh God. I hate that smell.

(x post)

Aja (aja), Sunday, 29 February 2004 18:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Well we all gotta go one day Aja, may as well go with a cig in yer hand

Dadaismus (Dada), Sunday, 29 February 2004 18:44 (twenty-two years ago)

But they smell so bad. Dave smokes to. Oh lord. He'll ruin his voice!

Umm. It's original title is "Just Another Story About Skeeter Thompson" It was originally on Pocketwatch, that album Dave made under the name Late. I got it on a Japanese release called Lost Treasures. It's just the Pocketwatch demos. They also have it on bootlegs.

My favorite song form Pocketwatch is "Pokey the Little Puppy." Such a simple, yet likeable instrumental.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 29 February 2004 18:51 (twenty-two years ago)

"Dave somkes to."

Whoops. too.

maypang (maypang), Sunday, 29 February 2004 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Jezz!

"It's original title"

Its.

I usually spell that right!

Aja (aja), Sunday, 29 February 2004 18:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Aaah, found a review of it. Interesting.

I love the Melvins take on "Skeeter", just because their music fits David's story-telling meter soooo well.

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 29 February 2004 18:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I might as well listen to it now.

Oh. I love "Pokey the Little Puppy" and now that I think about it, it is dark. A bit depressing, for an instumental. "Throwing Needles" is good! "Milk", "Butterflies", and maybe "Hells Garden" are a bit like "Floaty." "Petrol CB" is weird, but good. He's got a distorted voice, but then the chourus is like, electric and acoustic and regular voice. "Friend of a Friend" and Coloured Pictures of a Marigold" are the pretty acoustic songs. "Friend of a Friend" is more depressing than "Pictures of a Marigold." Sad songs. "Winnabego" is just a regular song, pretty much. "Bruce" is like a song that make me think is just to listen to while you sit around and smoke pot. Jezz! It's slow! And "Sketter" is more like a song just there. It's fun to listen to though.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 29 February 2004 19:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Gang of Four on the radio!!

He is a good guitar player.

But Geordie Walker is better!!
