In Memory of Kurt - Taking Sides: "Smells Like Teen Spirit" Vs "What do I do Now?" By Sleeper

One of these songs was by a band who were part of a major musical movement, sung by a lead singer that is regarded as one of the sexiest of all time - composed by a band that came to an end long before their time and with an anthem that touched and affected many.

But enough about "What do I do Now" by Sleeper. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" makes no sense and while it is a pretty awesome rock song, I'll vouch for "What do I do Now" because it's the best break up song ever.

This WAS a little "remembering Kurt" in my own way post. Figured I should add my own comments seeing as this has been such a big thing recently.

Guys, I can be Googled on both of the below threads:

www.ilxor.com/thread.php?msgid=4311737

posting on ILX under fake names

Can someone un-Google these or delete them or cover up my name? I've emailed off board many times but to no avail except a nice email from Dan Perry saying he'd do something and... well, he's not (in all due respect to Dan whom I'm sure is pretty busy being a Harvard boffin).

Anyway, this is my last post here. I said a few months back that one would be, but this IS it. I'm posting to ask this of you guys and good luck with your forum.

It's been fun.

Cal

I deindexed this one a while back (use "show all details" at the bottom of the page for the proof). It doesn't immediately remove them from Google, it just means that next time the spiders crawl back this way that it should disappear.

Phay and Noodles, you'd both kill me if I did a thing with that, wouldn't you? ;-)

don't you think he's hot kate? like, if he grew out his hair, didn't wash for a while, and played a fender jaguar through a string of fx pedals & alesis quadraverb? No me neither :(
This, I discovered by accident (really!!) I de-indexed the thread above, and checked his name on google to see if anything else on ilx turned up, to save moaning later. Imagine my suprise.

Probably best not to exploit it, as he's been very good, and not posted for a while.

(I haven't checked my email in a while, but I assumed that you knew wha Sean just said about turning indexing off not being an immediate "pull this from every search engine in the world immediately" button.)

Kate, I'll kill you with guns if you DON'T do anything with that.

Good Charlotte Kicks Ass!!!!!!!!
might wanna add this one to the fire, too. Let them stay over on the ILM side...

There's a C@lum who writes stuff for the pokey English horror mag 'The D@rk Side'. One and the same?

Headburn, Friday, 9 April 2004 17:52 (twenty-two years ago)

"Smells Like Teen Spirit" did nothing for me when I first heard it.
It eventually grew on me, but I still consider it one of Nirvana's
worst songs.

Squirrel_Police (Squirrel_Police), Friday, 9 April 2004 18:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't like SSTS at first, as I thought it too much like the Cult. But I grew to love it.

The WDIDN I thought fine at first hearing, but the lack of invention means I tired of it quickly.

If it were plotted on a graph, the SSTS would be sloping upwards, and the WDIDN would slope downwards.

Grand.

"SSTS"?
I call bullshit on this thread like a rodeo cowboy.
I can't wait for zombie Cobain to "RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE" and eat up some rockcrit brains.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 09:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, "Smell Slike Teen Spirit", OK?

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 09:23 (twenty-two years ago)

"Smart" is a much better album than "Bleach".

CRW (CRW), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 09:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, but "About a Girl" is the best song on either.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 09:52 (twenty-two years ago)

What about "Negitive Creep"?

Aja (aja), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)
