our drummer is new to the instrument, but we want to play stuff that shouldn't take too long to learn, but will be danceable. any recommendations for tracks i can play her?

(um the only other instrument in the band is a synth, ie no bass, which might make things tricky)

apologies if this is a bit self-indulgent obv.

You could get her to stick her tom sideways/upright and just play 4/4 house beats

Grandmaster Flash - "Adventures on the wheels of steel" because it has a lot of that boom-tish boom-tish stuff going on.

Best example I can actually think of is Hi Voltage "Lets get horny" but I've been trying to get a copy of that for 3 years ever since somebody pinched mine, so dunno how easy it is to find.

Slightly more complex, but still pretty simple and very danceable would be the type of beat on Loose Joinst "all over my face" and Raze "Break 4 love" which is pretty straight up 4/4 with a slight break in it in both cases...

Junior Senior's "Move Your Feet", I'd have thought.

speaking as a pretty poor drummer myself, i recommend all ESG (especially the older stuff) for confidence-building and fairly unbelievable groove. Dance!

Keep repeating to yourselves:
"BOOTS and SOCKS, BOOTS and SOCKS"
