Beastie Boys - Root Down
that Arsonists track that samples Rage against the Machine's surprisingly good jazzy eight bars

Entire Tribe Called Quest catalogue to thread.

btw I think you mean Jeru's "Me or the Papes" not "Me, not the paper."

And the original song is prod. by DJ Premier...I know of no Premo remix.

i thought it was "me or the papes", but i've got something here that says it's from the "me or the papes 12inch" and it's called "me or the paper (remix)" so i dunno.

(i mean "me, no the paper" (remix). argh.)

shouldn't this answer be something like Hip-Hop-from-90-maybe-98-with-a-few-revisionist-groups to thread?

Hip-hop 1990-98 had a much larger variety of sample sources than just jazz. Which is part of the reason I abhor the term "jazz rap" - these guys were sampling soul, funk, R&B, fusion, rock, pop music, both obscure and well known all thru this period.
