Pastor Troy - Vice Versa.

The world is back to front, heaven is hell and vice versa (would you start doing evil in order to nurture, the spirit man (YEAH???)), THE DEVIL IS GOD...i'm confused!!!

This could be really cringey and embarrasing like a sub-thoughtful Nas concept song about being a gun. But it's just so serious and earnest, down to the infectious broken music box tingles and slide guitar noises, and the spoken intro where Pastor and his mate are like 'what if everything is vice versa...it's vice versa nigga...picture everything you thought was good..is really bad...god damn vice versa' like you've never really thought about it before, but shit, what if heaven WAS on earth! The lyrics are so beautiful and clever, and he delivers them so forcefully and passionately and screams YEAH at the end of each sentence. And i'm sure he says 'Jesus equipped with angels and devils equipped with Pac'. Which is a pretty fucked up concept. He's even happy that he makes it to hell, because it's all god damn vice versa.

Does anyone like this song or is it a bit too cringey? Personally it's my favourite concept rap song ever, and i don't think many people other than PT could carry it off. Shame he can't sell many records.

Also, I have this beat on a Lil Flip freestyle (it sounds 100 times more amazing slowed down) and it plays the original intro and then Flip starts talking about cars.

i like the slow buildup where he gets more and more agitated. i think the delivery and everything sort of outshine the concept vice-versa thing, which is good.

i think the line is devils equipped with glocks and rhymed with for god so loved the earth that he blessed a thug with rocks.

Yo, i think that's the one i have but it's on the Platinum Now tape. There's also an amazing freestyle on the Ice Cube 'It Was A Good Day' riddim but he talks about happy stuff on a sad beat. That's why i love Flip.

wtf this thing's awful!! :( PT really fell off around when this and that stupid timbaland track came out. nb. i'm sure some of the residual hate is due to having to listen to folks constantly yapping about how deep (mannn) this track is when it was dominating the airwaves down here... i dunno, i guess i could download it and give it another chance. his new single's pretty alright.
