didn't they say it was going to sound like a cross between the sex pistols & kraftwerk?

lisafrank! (deangulberry), Friday, 16 April 2004 21:44 (twenty-two years ago)

well, none of others have been, so...no

scott pl. (scott pl.), Friday, 16 April 2004 21:45 (twenty-two years ago)

the verses of the b-side "hives are law you are crime" (2000) remind of that rapture single that came out a year later.

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 16 April 2004 21:51 (twenty-two years ago)

if the songs played live at the 2 SxSW shows this year are anything to go by, then yes... it'll be awesome.

over the two shows, i think they played about 7 or 8 new songs. all of them were great, but there's at least 2 or 3 killers of 'Main Offender' standard.

the power-pop / new-wave type influences they've been talking about are very evident, but its still very much 'The Hives'.

really? i was going to answer with a simple no. but if they manage to pull off what is indicated above them maybe not. but if they don't pull it off it will be worse than terrible.

myke boomnoise (myke boomnoise), Saturday, 17 April 2004 15:17 (twenty-two years ago)

well, there's no precedent for it

non-u, Saturday, 17 April 2004 18:54 (twenty-two years ago)

non-u, Saturday, 17 April 2004 18:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Saturday, 17 April 2004 18:56 (twenty-two years ago)

that was funny how you misspelt things

christhamrin (christhamrin), Saturday, 17 April 2004 19:10 (twenty-two years ago)

See that was my subtle way of saying that the joke everyone is currently beating into the ground is, in fact, stupid.

(PS Hives > The Fall)

(I'm turning into nu-garage trife here)

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Saturday, 17 April 2004 19:12 (twenty-two years ago)

And who are we to stop you?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 17 April 2004 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't you have Interpol threads to ruin?

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Saturday, 17 April 2004 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

If they went from garage rock to new wave, then the album after next will surely be nu-metal.

David Allen (David Allen), Saturday, 17 April 2004 19:15 (twenty-two years ago)

(tee hee I kid)

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Saturday, 17 April 2004 19:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I doubt!

4'33">Interpol

christhamrin (christhamrin), Saturday, 17 April 2004 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Having your entire family raped in front of you>4'33 references

David Allen (David Allen), Saturday, 17 April 2004 19:22 (twenty-two years ago)

everyone > the Fall, who suck and also Mark E Smith is ugly and retarded and smells like butt.

MBV are not very good either!

Now if I do this every day it'll possibly maybe counteract all the inane Interpol-bashing.

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Saturday, 17 April 2004 19:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Interpol are very good. I like them.

Sick Nouthall (Nick Southall), Saturday, 17 April 2004 19:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, they are fine by me when I hear them on the radio.

christhamrin (christhamrin), Saturday, 17 April 2004 19:28 (twenty-two years ago)

they get played on the RADIO???!

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Saturday, 17 April 2004 19:31 (twenty-two years ago)

But you should fear being a Hives fan, Nate. They beat up their fans.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 17 April 2004 19:36 (twenty-two years ago)

they get played on the RADIO???!

On my college radio station they do, yes. That is all there is to listen to radio-wise in these parts. There is no b-96 analogue.

christhamrin (christhamrin), Saturday, 17 April 2004 19:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Just for that, I'm thinking of starting a thread called "will my bloody valentine's next record be tangible?"

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Saturday, 17 April 2004 19:48 (twenty-two years ago)

(xp Ned obv.)

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Saturday, 17 April 2004 19:48 (twenty-two years ago)

"will my bloody valentine's next record be tangible?"

That's the nonquestion of the century! Of course it won't, at this rate!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 17 April 2004 19:50 (twenty-two years ago)

It will be too etheral to be tangible.

christhamrin (christhamrin), Saturday, 17 April 2004 19:52 (twenty-two years ago)

The next MBV record vs. the next Prodigy record vs. Chinese Democracy in a Triple Threat match for the world actually-existing title that will be held inside a 15-FOOT STEEL CAGE!

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Saturday, 17 April 2004 19:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Captain Beefheart as special guest referee

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Saturday, 17 April 2004 19:53 (twenty-two years ago)

(I digress because this thread doesn't need to exist -- OF COURSE THE NEXT HIVES RECORD WILL BE GOOD. THEY WERE PHOTOGRAPHED IN SPIN WEARING MARIACHI OUTFITS.)
