"Sweet Soul Music" - Arthur Conley or Sam and Dave.

Please e-mail him because he can't be arsed ever to return to this sordid place.

Screw him then, and the horse on which he rode into town.

I was actually thinking of starting a thread on how great this song is just last week. People refer to it as the archetype for the "roll call" song. Was it the first to use that trick?

It's my failsafe mix-opener - I make sure all of my friends know and love this song. Those horns make for one of the best intros ever.

It's the exact same song as Sam Cooke's "Yeah Man"

Only better ?

I think it's OK. His voice is great, but those sub-Alpert horns always bugged me.

mega. i was looking around my gran's house and i found what must have been my uncle's copy of the album "Sweet Soul Music" by Arthur Conley. In deligtful condition and mono.

also found an Aretha album and Martha and the Vandellas one on Tamla Motown. mega.

The horn section either borrowed from a Marlboro ad of the day or vice versa. I think the former is true.

three months pass...
This is a great tune. But who, in answer to the question "Do you like good music?", would reply "no"?
Someone who hates fun, clearly.

Did you know Arthur Conley was gay?
