well, i wasn't at the Monarch, but i did see their last tour where they went for a more low key approach, just them and a bunch of session musicians, no funny costumes or projections (Neil Tennant in jeans and t-shirt, playing acoustic guitar on some tracks), and a very subtle lightshow, often projecting from behind the stage, so you'd only see them as silhouettes. worked for me. they always come up with something new though when they play live, so you'll never know.
