Yes, but my tastes are stuck in the 70's, for the most part. Also, I have a bunch of cassettes without identifying titles. I like some: Samira Tewfic and Milhen Baraket. Can add more names later, possibly.

By now it's probably all hip-hop and "dance music."

Oh well, Fairouz is also very good at times, but some people (especially Lebanese people) would not consider her pop.

There are other threads dealing with Lebanese music, if you search the archive.

Also, there is this one Azar Habib song that sounds like "what Bongwater should sound like," in the words of a friend. (Comment made c. 1993.) I don't know the title and everything else I've heard by him is dreck.

Ragheb Alamah is really good, if by 'pop' you mean more traditional middle eastern instrumentation, phrasing, etc. and not western-style crossover music.

Ragheb Alamah

He's got the same old Egyptian "New Sound" production that everybody is using. Zzzzzzz.

Shit, I don't care if he's the Lebanese Britney Spears, I like Ragheb Alamah. I guess if you are looking for important figures in the Lebanese musical canon, he may not fit, but if you like pop music, it's worth a listen.
